hey all
Lets just start by saying everythings fresh. Mobo crashed. Newly installed windows xp pro. Newly installed Nero 6.6ultra. Nero start smart does not have film strip icon when dvd selected. If i try to burn with Nero vision express and select video files, then try to add AVI - tells me no compatible files found. Any suggestions?
Any help is greatly appreciated

Package one has this:
Update-Package 1
* Nero StartSmart 2
* Nero Express 6
* Nero BackItUp
* Nero SoundTrax
* Nero Image Drive
* Nero Burning ROM 6
* Nero Cover Designer
* Nero Wave Editor
* Nero Toolkit
Package 2 has this
Update-Package 2
* NeroVision Express 3
* Nero Recode 2
* Nero ShowTime 2
* Nero PhotoSnap
* Nero MediaHome
If you don't use all of it you can do a custom install and pick what you want.
Not trials pacakages & you don't need to buy again. Just use your serial key that you have now.

1. "If you don't use all of it you can do a custom install and pick what you want." Can you do that with Nero 6.6.x? How?
2. About AVIs: I think Nero may be unable to burn some AVIs, depending on the codecs needed. is this right?

Hey zapatero
Do do the custom install and just pick what you want to install when you are running the installer you get a screen that ask if you want a 'typical' or 'custom' install. Typical (or very similar wording) is usually picked by default.
Just click on custom then the next screen you can pick which apps to install.
For your question 2 - you're probably right. There are some avi's that Nero bombs on yet other programs like ConvertXtoDVD - no problem.
What the diff in codecs is that one I do not know.

1. I think "custom" and "typical" installs are options in Nero 7.x, but not in Nero 6.x.
2. AVI is a "container" format, so there can be different thing "inside" it. Nero Vision handles some AVIs, but not others. I just downloaded an AVI from Google Video, and Nero Vision (v. 4.7) was unable to add it to a project ("Unable to insert..."). I converted it to WMV (using CinemaForge), and Nero Vision accepted the new file.
