I'm in a business where we may be deploying VCD's and SVCD's. We have looked at a number of other companies' products, and one in particular had basically a VCD that also included an autorun with a built-in VCD player, so that the CD could be played on either a home DVD player or a computer.

However, after some research, the player is actually part of a $200 software suite. Are there any players out there I could use for this, preferably even cross-platform for mac/pc?

1} What is the name of your business? Do you have a website?
2)Most recommended program for backing up DVD2SVCD is DVD2SVCD using CCE (Cinema Craft Encoder)to cd-r(w). Movies backups take 2-3 cd-r(w)'s (input settings can change no. of cd's), episodes usually 1 cd-r(w) but longer episodes can use 2 cd-r(w)'s. No comment on VCD<(blah)

Shoey :)

Midi --

I've seen the same thing in a VCD product demo that came from China. When executed in a PC the VCD plays automatically using its own, customized player that shows the company name at the top of teh viewing frame. The player is SMALL, as i recall maybe 16 KB. I tried using it in my own VCD, but "company x's" name is still deployed at top of the player. I don't think they hired someone to write the player, so it must be the product of an off-the-shell program. No idea which one, though.

Mebbe I should clarify my situation a bit here. I'm trying to create VCDs to use in-company where everyone is running PCs on Win2K or (some) on XP. At least on the 2K machines, it's very convoluted to teach the computer greenhorns to configure to run the VCD off Windows Media Player. I figure with autoplay as an option, I could save a lot of explanations and running around. Tried the solutions on vcdhelp.com and they didn't work -- I suspect the Win2K just doesn't work the same way. That embedded player seems like just the thing. It works like a charm in the Chinese catalog, and except for the customized title on the viewer, it would work for me in this application, too.
