I need to check my on/off switch, but i do not know how to get to it. I know all cases are different. so a general guide would be good please. This is my first time at fixing any computer.thanks

How do you now the switch is bad? If you want to, you can just jump the power terminals on the mobo and see if the PC powers up. If that works, and the power button doesnt, then the button is bad.

look at your motherboard manual to find the 2 pins that are for the power button. disconnect the 2 wires to it & use a metal screw driver to briefly connect the 2 pins to cause the computer to power up.
