Hi nasayin,
Thanks for your speedy response. I;m having a look at the links you suggested, but I think the firmware relates to unlocking the drive for region free. I'm not really bothered about this at the momment, and am more interested in in the second link, though I'm not really sure what to do with it.
I have two primary IDe channels and two secondary channels.
All, other than the 2nd Primary channel show the transfer mode as-DMA if applicable, and current transfer mode the same.
However, the 2nd Primary channel shows, transfer mode-DMA if applicable and current transfer mode as Multi-word DMA Mode 2.
I've unistalled one driver and rebooted, but don't know eather or not to do the rest at this point.
Is there anyway of finding out if the settings are correct, without running the risk of making a coaster?

On both your Primary and Secondary IDE, is your Trasfer mode set to "DMA if Available"
If so, is your Current Transfer Mode set to "Ultra DMA Mode"?
Updating your firmware also gives you more compatibility with your dvd disc. The choice is up to you.
Also, do not use your machine while burning or converting. From your log, your memory is getting too low. You have 1 gig of memory which is more than enough to burn a dvd. But do not use your computer doing so.

lol yeah I was playing PES.
I have done it in the past, on a much slower PC.
But I will stop cos that's what I keep reading.
I only have one disc drive, but you could probably tell that already.
The only one that has a current transfer mode selected is on Multi-word DMA Mode 2, and I can't change it.
I'll give the firmware I try, but is it as simple as following the links?

Multi-Word DMA 2 is fine. Make sure both your Primary and Secondary are like that. Your hard drive had DMA off in the log file.
Download version PS0B and update your dvd firmware. If you are unfamiliar, you can always refer to liteon website for assistance.

You are talking about device 1. You probably don't have anything on Device 1 so it is set to Not Applicable. Just make sure Device 0 is set to Multi-Word DMA.

Yeah, it definatly is. I just installed the firmware update, and tried a short AVI to see if it worked. It still messed up on the writing lead-in process. I wasn't playing games this time, or in fact using the PC at all.
Here's the error log, if you'd be so kind as to have a look, I would appreciate it.

Quote: Nero API version: 6.6.1.4
Using interface version: 6.6.0.14
I believe this Nero version is buggy. Also edit out your serial number starting with 1A in both log. Write down your serial number and I would suggest to downgrade Nero to 6.6.0.18.
Do the following:
1.Run this clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html
2. Install Nero 6.6.0.18 from here http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Ner....0.18_no_yt.exe
3. Install Nero Vision from here http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe
Quote: CdRomPeripheral : Generic DVD-ROM 1.0 d347prt Port 4 ID 0 DMA: Off
DiskPeripheral : Maxtor 4D080H4 JRAID Port 5 ID 0 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-160P6SPS0B JRAID Port 5 ID 1 DMA: Off
Your DMA is still showing Off. Are you sure DMA is enable?
Quote: Physical memory : 1022MB (1046952kB)
[21:00:37] NeroVision Free physical memory: 315MB (323092kB)
Your memory is getting too low. Shut off any unneccessary apps.
Quote: Burn process failed at 8x (11,080 KB/s)
Tried burning at 4X

Sorry about that. I updated the link, should be working now. Make sure to edit out your serial number in both logs here. You don't want anyone copying your serial number

I'll give it a go. Sorry if I broke any rules but I couldn't find the serials, so I erased it all.
