Its come apon us at last folks 2.71 SE-B, 1.50 Kernal emulation from the GAME folder (not GAME150) plus also to load ISO,s straight from the GAME menu no need for DevHook.
I think the only time you actually use DevHook now is if you want to play your ISO,s off the PC through USBHOSTS but apart from that...its of no use.
This is a major breakthrough with custom firmwares, who needs a modchip?
Of course and unfortunatly it doesnt work with TA-082 so dont try it or you risk bricking it, stick with HENC for the time being.
I see no reason for sticking with 1.50... :P

yeah i agree with you there, theres no reason to stay with 1.5 now.
i just upgraded to 2.71 SE-B and its great, though a modchip would still be good incase of a complete brick.

Just took the big leap and upgraded to 2.71 SE-B, liking it a lot! It's great not having to switch between two firmwares when you want to play isos or homebrew, its all there in your GAME menu to play now! When more customisation comes around for this, it will be incredible!
Only thing is, the Ridge Racer 2 demo doesn't work for me now, it did in emulated 2.71, but not now. Any ideas why anyone?

Im sticking with devhook until they at least support usbhostfs. Sides at least with devhook, you can totally mess with 2.71 and it doesnt matter cos its not in flash. I dont like messing with flash and thats what this is an update to your flash... another possible way to brick your PSP... no thanks. I can see all the newbs getting this cos it seems so easy but some of us are just stuck in our ways. Can anyone confirm fastloader .07 works with this firmware? or is there a new way to dump a UMD?

i just dumped Syphon Filter using Fastloader 0.7 on 2.71 SE-B. deosvx, you should definatly upgrade to it. It is way better than devhook and you can modify it. If something goes wrong, use recovery mode to unbrick it. Awsome!!

@ gzach,
I had the problem with Ridge Racer 2 not working, but I think the problem is that I had it in GAME, but it needed to be in GAM271, as it needs the 2.71 kernal to run. In SE-A, 2.71 stuff ran from GAME, and everything 1.50 from GAM150, but it is switched in SE-B (or you have the option to switch it, I did).
I am gonna put in GAM271 and see what happens.
And there is a gameboot/font/etc customiser for SE-B now, it's on http://www.psp-hacks.com

@ npdyna,
yeah that might be the problem, i had configured se-b to use the GAME folder for 1.5 kernel.
ill test it out and see if it works
also ive already downloaded the customiser, really easy to ujse, but i dont mess with the gameboot.

With the release of fw2.82, games requiring the new firmware will be along soon.
So I repeat to any of the techies out there. What happens to this custom firmware, can you just upgrade to a higher level of firmware emulation ?
