Devhook 46 UI installer mod and release Q?

Ethical question:

Is it ethical to modify the devhook UI installer and than release it? Basically all I wanna do is make a preinstall program where you can choose the font you want it to use, background, animations, sounds etc. I was just wondering cos I just figured out how you can change your font and load screens and stuff might brick your PSP BUT if you just mod the 2.71 folder in your memory card you can just edit the EMULATED 2.71 firmware and theres no chance of bricking. I already figured out how to make a custom font for devhook when it boots up into 2.71 now figuring out the boot screens and default sounds including the sound when you go between options. I just dont know the correct procedures.. I wanna make a mods to it and get credit but also make sure people know whos originally responsible.

i think it would be a good idea to release it. As long as you quote who made the orignal devhook you should be fine. Just a hint, the gameboot is in ms0:/dh/271/flash0/vsh/resource/gameboot.pmf and the opening sound is in ms0:/dh/271/flash0/vsh/resource/opening_pluin.rco

thanks for the info but if you knew this and assume others do why hasnt anyone actually made it? Is it to keep the newbs at bay? This sh*t isnt rocket science and anyone who's computer LITERATE should be able to handle a PSP. A PSP IS a computer. I just wanna make something like this to make my life easier, learn something and share it with people that arent so computer savy.... at the same time i dont wanna step on anyones d*ck trying to do it.

people haven't made an installer because they probably haven't thought of it. Its a good idea and if you know how to create/modify and installer, i could get the files and where to put them. I would like to help you (as long as i get some credit)

I have an auto installer. You just hook up your 1.50 PSP to your computer make sure your in usb mode and run the app. Its pretty awesome, if you want it I can send it to you. I cant find the original link but I uploaded it to my domain for download. Im sure if you searched for the filename in google you'd find it. what I downloaded was "Devhook046_UI_v1.1.1.exe". What I wanted to do though is MOD that installer so there's more options. If possible id love to make it modular and have a web installer so you can download a tiny installer, choose your options and upgrade your PSP from the internet.
