Well, I'm trying to install the fontmod right now, and I just opend system.dreg in a hex editor. I noticed some text strings that said MUSIC VIDEO, ect. And I was wondering that if I edit those, the text would change on the psp? Or would that brick it or something? I'd just like to know before editing that stuff. lol

using xflash's menu editor would be easier if thats what you're trying to do.

you can try changing them to see what happens. It won't brick because it is in flash1, not flash0. When something in flash0 corrupts, it will brick. If something corrupts in flash1, it will not brick. If something goes wrong, your flash1 will reset and you will be fine. You just have to put your settings in again. Give it try and post your results.

firmware or emulated? if its emulated like your using devhook, you cant brick cos its all on the memcard but suggest you back up the dh directory incase the font doesnt work you can put back the one that does

Nope, it changed the language on my psp to japanese for some reason. lol And then it gave me the Seeting information is Corrupt page. I used the parsefixupdreg program, but I guess it's because I changed Video.

@hexitnow: does xflash work with 2.71 firmware?

Uhmm, when I press O, the same page comes up again...>_> Please tell me my psp isn't bricked. Please..O_O

EDIT:
Omg, I was so scared there for a moment. Because I used the tiff fontmod to write the system.dreg onto my psp, and when I looked in the readme, I saw nothing about flash1. But I just hard-rebooted my psp and now it works. I was in emulated 2.71 btw. Maybe that saved me? o.O

I edited my post, I rebooted my psp and it works. When I used the fontmod, I had forgot to get out of the emulated 2.71, so now it's working. Do you think that saved me? lol I'm so freaking happy right now. If my psp had bricked, I would cry. Haha

so your okay? good. Did the renaming work. I just relised that it won't have worked because you change something in flash0. Well done for trying.

are you talking about DH/271/flash0? thats emulated 2.71 flash0 you can ef that up and maybe your psp wont boot anymore but a hard reset gets it back going. Go back to USB mode and fix whatever you fux0red up, nothing important than just format the entire disk. This is why Im not upgrading to flash 2.71SEx

Haha I'm just freaking glad that I forgot to get out of the emulated 2.71. I had to replace my 2.71 dump because it was still messed up. Yay! lol

even if you are scared of upgrading to 2.71 SE-B, you should do it. I id it and i think it was the best choice i have made for my PSP.

err if you got 1.50 back up your stick if you got anything you wanna save on it and reinstall devhook 0.46. Onc e you got that installed fuck with 2.71 all you want cos its not hardware its all emulated and very nicely i must add. Ive had a few lock ups but better that than possibly bricking my PSP

I'd upgrade to 2.71 SE if I could. :P My psp is a factory ta-082 2.6.

I'm actually thinking of buying a new motherboard on ebay or something, but after seeing a video of someone taking their psp apart, it seems intimidating. XD

If you just bought it new Id get my money back and go to ebgames/software etc/gamestop and get a used. Open up the UMD make sure its not a TA-082. Be as discrete as possible incase you accidently brick they dont question you when you tell em you turned it on and theres just a black screen ;) Or it might be in your best interest to tell them you want a 1.50 PSP that is not TA-082.
