ok, so i have amd 3700 + 2000 FSB. I was experimenting with different voltages and bus speeds. brought it to 1.4 V and 2.85 Ghz from the stock 1.35 and 2.2 ghz. computer was acting funny, the screens kept turning on and off and errors were coming, so i turn the settings back to stck. But next thingi know, my hard drive is doing some recovery thing, and than i cant even load xp anymore. I reinstalled XP and tried recovering any lost data with the hard drive check. (files in my D drive were corrupt or soemthing, nothing would work until i did the check)

My questino is, why would overclocking my CPU do this to my hard drive?!

its possible you might have done some damage to your southbridge if you upped the cpu clock and didnt drop the cpu 2 nb/sb multi but it is unlikly. people who have more experience with this kind of thing can be found in the overclocking thread(sticky near the top of the thread list) and could probably tell you more.
