I have burned many dvds and then it just stoped working giving me burn failers. I tried different types of data. It reads dvds, cds, burns cds.
I have been useing imation brand (they where cheep so i got alot for christmas and birthday). i have had previouse problems with this brand resulting in many costers/frisbes. up till today I have been useing the Nero that came with my laptop but i got Nero 7 ultra today. i have been reading this forum on what could be wrong. i looked in to the DMA thing and mine should be fine i will put a pic of it anyway to make shure. with Nero 7 it actually gave me a log instead of freezing up. so i will post that. my HD is 73% full because i haven't been able to burn the disks to get rid of the files.

Hi.

Just a quick scan.

I think you are trying to burn too fast with poor quality media. Slow down to 4X and see if that helps. Also you're using CMC Mag media which is among the poorer quality media.

If problems persist and if you have any Roxio software like Easy Media Creator installed, uninstall it and run the Roxio Zapper to remove the Roxio driver, i.e., CDRALW2K.SYS.

I'm guessing you have a Gateway laptop based on the firmware version of the burner. You might want to go to the Gateway support site and see if there's a firmware update available for your burner.

You might also try using ImgBurn to burn your ISO images. It's free and available here:

These are horrible discs, try Verbatim or Sony (made in Japan)
