Hi all.

I've spotted this guide all about firmware downgrading: http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/about17935.html

There seem to be a bunch of different methods (at least one involving GTA) for different models & I'm a little overwhelmed!

Am I right in thinking that if I pick up a PSP, without a TA-082 motherboard (Identifiable using this technique: http://img421.imageshack.us/img421/6581/ta082check1eh0.jpg), that is loaded with a pre-2.71 firmware I can simply:

- Upgrade the firmware to 2.71 (using conventional methods - that's easy right?)
- Then use the same downgrade method (the 1st) regardless of which firmware was loaded when I bought it

I've read through some posts (there's a lot to digest!) & can't find a conclusive answer.

Thanks for any assistance in advance.

Ok well you can do it this way. Like you said if it dosn't have a ta 082 motherboard and has firmware at or below 2.71 you can downgrade but you can do everything with a 2.71 as you can with a 1.50 with the devhook running henc.

Thanks for your help.

I was under the impression that DevHook only ran on 1.50.

What firmwares does DevHook run on?

Will DevHook run on a PSP with a TA-082 motherboard & firmware 2.71?

Ah, I've just read this guide: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/401672

Am I right in thinking that HENC boot's a 1.50 firmware from 2.71.

Then from there it's possible to run DevHook (which can launch other firmwares/ ISOs)?

Yeah now devhook runs on fw 1.50 and 2.71.

And yes devhook will run on a psp with 2.71 fw and TA-082 mobo

Because your not downgrading your emulatin 1.50 and then running devhook.

That's fantastic!

Other than the more convoluted initial setup & a couple more steps after each hard-reset does this method have any disadvantages over a proper 1.50 downgrade?

afgunzzz, I haven't picked up a PSP yet.

Thankyou both for your help.

Well on 1.5, you can change the gameboot, font, and even the opening when you firs turn on the psp right?

For 2.71 you can change the font, but not the gameboot or opening (as far as I know). I'm just a little irritated at that, because now I really want to do that to my psp. Haha

But yea, If I had the choice to use 1.5 or 2.71, I'd definately use 1.5. >_>

So in conclusion...

If I go out tomorrow and pick up any PSP loaded with a 2.71 (or below) firmware I can use the HENC method to run DevHook (and therefore ISOs)?

Just to say thanks again.

I've now got 2 PSPs, both working flawlessly with custom firmwares. ;)
