@gunot
forgot one step

@flameb
mp4 file have to have a properly formatted name in order for them to show up. the name is as follows:
m4vxxxxx - but change all x's to numbers so it looks like
m4v00001 - or
m4v00002 - and so on and so forth.

that name isnt the one that shows in XMB. you can also read the psp manual. it also tells you how to write the name properly. if it says incompatible data is was prolly a bad conversion.

Movies converted for firmwares 2.00->2.71 (AVC) need to be encoded with certain headers than movies encoded for 2.80+.
Its nothing to do with bad encodes.
For 2.80+ Main Profile Level 2.1, 1bFrame and 1reference frame.
And put in the VIDEO folder which is found inside the PSP folder.
Below 2.80 Main Profile Unrestricted 1bFrame and 1reference frame, atomchanger is needed.
And these are put in the following folders:
Replace (f:) with your PSP drive letter.
(f:)MP_ROOT/100MNV01/M4Vxxxxx.MP4
(f:)MP_ROOT/100ANV01/MAQxxxxx.MP4

Agood encoder is XVID4PSP or MEDIACODER both freeware.

who says were talkin about 2.7+. and yes sometimes having a bed encode will yield things like that. most of the free programs find one place or another to mess up. Nero works the best so far in my experiences. 100% of movies I have converted worked on my psp.

Nobody, but just incase. The VIDEO folder has only been incorporated to 2.80+.
90% of encoding software for the PSP does everything for you, only when you start messing with settings is when things go pear shaped.
Why you using Nero anyway HEX?
Your on 1.50 so why not use Jonnys PMPMODAVC and encode to 480x272 res?

in you psp's memory card that they gave it to you when you brout your psp there should be a PSP folder with capitals,inside the psp folder you make another folder that is named VIDEO iside this folder you can put videos you can download videos on google vids and if you want to have music on your psp you have to make a folder named MUSIC inside that folder you put music in .
