Hi frenz,

Can some one tell me what/how to do with my problem??

I purchased 1 DVD Burner Lite-ON 8 months ago and the condition is good until last week, while i burn a CD using Nero, the Nero program suddenly stuck/hang. And after that my DVD Burner can't read/write a CDs anymore BUT it can still read/write DVDs.

Is it any problems with connection or setting with my PC?

Or (i heard of speculation) the Lens already droped a bit, so that is why it can only read a DVD not CD.... It is true? And how can i fixed it by myself?

Hi

Just had the same problem with my Acer. Basically there are two lenses, one for DVD and one for CD. If one of these goes then you really are best replacing the whole drive unfortunately.

Usually that issue is the opposite.

Double check all cables and make sure they are secured into place. Sometime they'll wiggle free. If OK:

Go through device manager under cdrom/dvd drives.Open up the tree, double click on the lite-on drive, uninstall drivers and reboot. See if she'll recognize both cds and dvds.

Sometimes they get lost, and uninstall-reboot usually takes care of it.

If that's ok,then:

What version of Nero do you have?

Nero can be flaky at times. If the rebooting doesn't help, try removing Nero through add/remove programs. Then you'll need eyb cleantool to completely rid all remnants of Nero off your pc. Then download Nero again. Here's the links to both cleantool 6 and 7-depending on what version you have:

Thanks PAL.....

I will try to re-install the driver & re-instal Nero.
I will feed back the result later.

But the condition was like, once i insert a cd, the driver will run it normally until certain timing (i think start loading point) the cd turn down to slow run, and sound like 'ka' 'tic' 'ka' 'tic 'ka' 'tic' appear repeatly.

At the end the drive does't read the cd.
