im thinking of upgrading my pc & am looking for some advice.ideas...
my specs:-
amd athlon 64 3000+ 2.0ghz,
asrock k8upgrade vm800 socket 754,
2gb corsair twinx xms ddr400 pc3200 (latency timings 3.3.3.8),
nvidia geforce 6600 256mb agp,
250gb samsung sp2504c sata hdd,
coolermaster hyper 6 heatpipe cooler & fan,
antec case exhaust,
speeze hdd cooler with 2 fans,
case fan..
i could sell my current pc & add the money made to my funds,
but am unsure how much to sell it for..
i bought the pc for £100 & all it had was a 40gb hdd, 256mb ram,
the cpu, mobo, case & psu.
ive since spent upto £600 adding new stuff to it.
i was thinking of buying these parts to build a new gaming pc,
buying 1 or 2 parts a month:-
core 2 duo e6600 2.4ghz,
gigabyte ga-965p-dq6,
thermaltake armor va8003bws case,
enermax galaxy 1kw psu,
directx10 graphics card,
liquid cooling,
2x 150gb wd raptorx hdd,
1x 750gb seagate barracuda hdd,
hopefully be able to use my own corsair ram, if not id buy
2gb a-data vitesta ddr2 1000+ as it won awards in custompc magazine, even beating, kingston, corsair, ocz, etc...
i was even looking at this cpu on enay which i could buy tommorrow with a decent 939 sli mobo:-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3-0GHz-AMD-64-Opte...1QQcmdZViewItem
anyway, just wondering what the people of afterdawn thought..
thanks for any help i recieve, its appreciated:-)

a good 939 rig would be the cheap option, but as im sure a cpc reader knows it has no future. the c2d setup you posted will need new ddr2 ram and i would swap the mobo for an abit ab9.

for about £400 you could drop an allendale, the ab9 and the a-data ram into your case with the reat of your stuff, only leaving you needing a new pcie card.

looking at the specs if you can find a bit of a n00b you could get £400/500 anyone in the know probably £300/400

no doubt, but that one isnt one of them.

the ab9 is the fastest c2d mobo at stock, it costs £100 and will oc nearly as good as all the £150 mobos.

ok thanks guys.
i dont really need liquid cooling, just like the look of it &
thought it'd keep everything cool better than fans/heatsinks..
iv'e just added a new 320gb hdd:-
http://www.encoreshop.co.uk/shopping/pro...0GB+Premium+HDD

& a new soundcard to my current pc:-
http://www.soundblaster.com/products/pro...5&product=14103

what would be a decnt price to sell my pc for now?
ive spent over a grand doing it up as when i bought it, it only had 256mb ram, 20gb hdd, & ive since added 2gb corsair twinx xms ddr400 pc3200, nvidia geforce 6600 256mb agp, coolermaster hyper 6 heatpipe cooler & fan, samsung 250gb sp2504c sata hdd, western digital 320gb my book external hdd, creative soundblaster audigy 4 sound card, harman/kardon soundsticks II, & various fans/coolers etc..

ive heard that the core 2 e6300 is also worth getting as it can clock to almost e6800 speeds...
is that true & is it worth getting over the pricier e6600??
im unsure which motherboard to get & like the look of the gigabyte ga-965p-dq6 & a couple of asus boards, so will maybe wait till after xmas to get the motherboard..

have you guys heard about the new intel feature called robson?
it sounds good, so ill probably wait till that gets introduced..
thanks for the help guys B)

Unfortunately your pc really isn't worth much these days. I could build that system from brand new parts for under £300 if using cheaper memory than the corsair.

I have the same happen with mine... my £350 graphics card was only worth about £70 when I came to selling it the other month. Now I have a nice fast 7950gx2 but I know even that won't be worth much when it comes to my next upgrade.

Your probably going to have to cough up quite a bit for your next upgrade I would say.

We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent...
