Does plugging in PSP to USB charge battery?

I know that the regular charge jack is not the USB mini jack but I was wondering if the PSP by default accepts the USB input as a form of power to recharge the battery.

Makes sense from a design standpoint that it would but that is not always how Sony does things... $$$

honestly, the charge i get from the PSP USB Cable w/ Attached charger deal works for crap, basically keeps just enough power going to it not to drain it, same w/ my cig lighter adapter, not really worth it, glad i got them both for a buck a pop.

this used to be the same for me, the USB charger would only keep it at the same level of charge. now for some reason it can charge the psp fully but slower than the AC charger, which is lucky because my ac charger no longer works!! :)

well i guess mine does charge it if i leave the psp off, but it's like a 5% of what the AC Charger is capable of in the same amount of time....

y woud u use a car charger? all u would do is blow ur psp 2 hell and back? da psp charge limits a flow 2 5 volts so u still keeps ur psp instead of a pile of ashes

My PSP usb lead has an additional wire coming off it which plugs straight into the charging port on the psp, it charges it up ok only pretty slowly.
