DMA-drive error, CRC error

Hello, recently I've been attempting to burn a data DVD using Nero 7 which I have done many times in the past. Recently however, I have been getting a failed burn with the error "DMA-drive error, CRC error". I'm writing to Sony DVD+RW media. I do burn movies using CloneDVD with no problems, only when attempting the data DVD's am I having problems.
My burner is a NEC DVD-RW ND-3550a with the lastest firmware per NEC's website. Mainboard drivers are all current as well. I'm running Windows XP SP2, 2gb RAM, AMD 300+ XP processor.
I only have the one drive, other two shown are virtual drives.

also I heard that virtual drives interfere with Nero..... try shutting them down when burning.

I followed the given steps, though the Nero cleaner did not find anything after the uninstallation. Virtual drives deactivated. Same error occurs. Here is the newer log:

Are you trying to change the book type on a DVD +RW on purpose? That may not be a good idea if you want to use it again. Have you checked the disc and noticed what type it is currently showing as far as DVD_ROM or DVD +RW?
The NEC firmware did not do book typing when I got my drive. I had to use a modified version to get it to do that.
Have you tried a DVD +R or are you trying to get it to work on the RW first?

@Saltgrass.......... Nero will booktype to DVD-ROM if you check the box to AUTOMATIC and if the drive does booktyping. That has nothing to do with the Sony +RW or his problem.
the (KEY_ILLEGAL_REQUEST) and (KEY_HARDWARE_ERROR) are the reasons why this session stopped! mabye there is a problem with the burner. I can't see much with the logs.

it's the disk or the drive! Try using a new disk. and then try to uninstall and reinstall the drive! that DMA driver might be at fault causing a problem with the drive. follow this:

The last attempt resulted in the error log that I posted (most recent log), I used the very same DVD+RW to burn a movie using CloneDVD and had no problems, disc works great. Originally I had backed up data on a DVD+RW. Now, I error out when attempting to burn data to a DVD+RW. Just as I post this message, burn process completed burning to an Imation DVD-R (data dvd) with NO errors. I'm not going to complain over having to use one over the other, but I am curious how data DVD could be made to a DVD-R and error out when burned to RW..

Still experiencing the same issues. I can burn movies to DVD RW and DVD-R with no problems at all.
The media I am using at the moment is Memorex DVD-R.
The other day I actually burned "Data" to a DVD-R. The data was very small, under 100mb in total size, no errors occured.
Now, I am backing up over 3g's worth of Data and experience:
DMA-drive error, CRC error
D:_NEC DVD_RW ND-3550A
I've used multiple software titles to attempt to burn a data DVD, all fail.

DVD data burning attempt failed, though progress bar kept moving... So after everything eventually stopped, I checked the files on the DVD and though everything appeared to be written to the disc, all .exe files were not. Everything else was written except .exe files.
