I've been trying to convert my avi files, and burn them to cd's for days, no matter what I do I end up at a dead end. Perhaps, someone here could help me out I would greatly appreciate it!!

I have the TMPGEnc and I also have nero....now when I try to convert them with TMPGEnc it tells me their not supported, yet when I run them in an avimedic it tells me the files are fine, I can play them on most players too. Then when I try to use nero it says it's doing something, then 2 minutes later it says it's done, yet nothing was converted or burned. What am I doing wrong??

Any advise would be truly appreciated!

Thank you,

Tina

Ok to open them in TMPGEnc, first decomporess the audio. Open VirtualDub and do the following

1. Click video - direct stream copy
2. Click audio - full Processing mode
3. click audio - compression, select no compression pcm and click ok
4. click file - save as avi

The AVI saved will be bigger but is more likely to work with TMPGEnc!

Thanks for your help, however, my files won't even open up in VirtualDub. It gives me some kind of error. Yet, I'm able to play them, so I know that their good.

I have GSpot, I'm not exactly sure how to use it, but I believe that the file is ok, it says under both video, and audio that there are two compatable codecs installed

OK it says....

Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'MP43' (Microsoft High-Speed MPEG-4 V3)

VirtualDub requiresa video for Windows (vfw) compatible codec to decompress video. Directshow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable.

Search for the WMP 8.0 codec Pack and/or WMP 9.0 codec Pack and that should do it!!!

Thank you so very much for your help!!! After I did what you said, it worked in VirtualDub, and now it's working in TMPGEnc. I'm extremely happy to have finally gotten somewhere, you have saved me a thousand more headaches!! Thanks again!
