All videos / sounds / radiostations still intact as if it was the real UMD

So here is what you do

1) find your 1.57GB GTA:VCS ISO
2) extract the ISO with WinRAR
3) Delete the Update folder in SYDIR
4) Delete that 165MB file inside the USDIR folder (only file there if im not mistaken, the file name has a PAD in it), this file is useless as it only used for when you are running the UMD
5) put back together with UMDgen
6) CSO the new ISO file
7) your GTA:VCS is now able to fit in a 1GB card w/o removing any parts of the game!

congrats

I can get it on a 1 gig card as a cso without removing anything atall.
But it's unplayable as a cso as most people have now found out.

We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent...

lol what the heck is up with gta games being laggy when they're compressed? well, nice thinking kyin01. I just might try that if I ever do decide to get VC.

Dont any of you know about ripkits? I know pro noob does, i told him in another thread....there are kits that get the iso arounf 700 megs no compression, and nothing will be gone except some lame radio stations, you can even choose which ones go....

Uncompress the cso back to iso
Download umdgen
On your desktop right click and go to create new text document
Open umdgen
Drag and drop the uncompressed image to the big window
With the new txt document on your desktop, rename it to these whole file names (dont rename it smallpad.dat.txt, just smallpad.dat)

Make a new text file on your desktop for each one of these. Or just keep renaming the same file as you go along
Then drag and drop them into the directory listed:

SMALLPAD.DAT under PSP_GAME > USDIR
BOOT.BIN under PSP_GAME > SYSDIR

UNDER PSP_GAME > USRDIR > AUDIO > MUSIC YOU WILL SAVE THE MOST AMOUNT OF SPACE BY REPLACING THE MOST AMOUNT OF RADIO STATIONS (c'mon, you cant listen to all of them can you?....CAN YOU?!!). Just name new txt.'s again and replace as you did before. Do not replace anything thats not a radio station to not miss out on the full game itself.

Right click on:
LOGO.PMF under PSP_GAME > USRDIR > RUNDATA > PSP > MOVIES and extract the image to your desktop
Rename the LOGO.PMF to TITLES.PMF on your desktop
Drag and drop the TITLES.PMF to PSP_GAME > USDIR > RUNDATA > PSP > MOVIES
Replace the file

Delete UPDATE folder under PSP_GAME > SYSDIR

Under the toolbar of the umdgen program, click Search for dummy files resize to 0kb

Go to Save compilation as ISO to your desired destination

Thar ye be...

I ripped all radio stations (gonna use custom tracks when it comes out) and got it down to 698mb. I also have one with just 3 radio stations at about 824mb. I think thats all I did, I'll update if i forgot something

also, the 698mb I compressed with yualis (sp?) but it just made it unplayable and it only saved 4mb.

EDIT: Also, after you play through the game, make new txts like before and replace all the tracks in the cutscenes folder under \PSP_GAME\USRDIR\AUDIO\CUTSCENE That should save a good amount. But at this point, you're cutting into the game

Edit 2: I just remembered, I also ripped out the foreign languages from PSP_GAME > USDIR > RUNDATA

uhm...

I find the full game pretty playable as a CSO @ 333mhz. I like have all the radio stations so a few hiccups here and there don't bother me.

Dax it, and it won't lag compressed. Dax is a better compression all around.

you need a dax mod for 2.71-SE.

SVT, people need to stop being so damn reliant on the people who release ppf's or other ripkits. Also if you dont have a specific filesize some ripkits wont even work (if you dl it and its already been partially ripped). GTA:VCS is one of the easiest psp games to RIP DIY. People need to stop settling for second best, stop comprimising by using DAX or CSO compression and convincing themselves that its "playable" at 333, roll up their sleeves for 2 freaking seconds and DIY. The directions could not be any more straight forward, and doing a little bit of work will save you a gig if you play your cards right. There's been a rising rate of petulance in the scene, to many people wanna be bottle fed instead of going hunting for sustenance. Cool sig btw svt

I hear what your saying Hydra. I made a DIY ripkit for Tekken before any were available, and i provided simple as hell directions on how to do it....still only a couple people figured it out.

Ill say it here and no, people are dumb. Sorry to offend some people....actually I dont care lmao, but nobody takes the time to learn anything, they want the quick and easy way out of everything. That is the main reason I stay away from the psp forum anymore, ignorance and laziness is all over the place, but I applaud people like you that actually do things themselves. You too will soon figure out that your giving too much credit to people, thinking they can do something like you posted on their own. I know its sad, but i am only speaking the truth.

To people who actually take the time to use Hydra's method, great job, even if you couldnt get it to work, atleast you tried....more than can be said for 95% of the rest of people.

And thanks for the compliment on the sig :)

I got a Ripped ISO that I havent tested yet but its well under a gig with things ripped and some stations ripped which is fine with me if its the crappy mexican radio, talk stations and some station playing faggetty ass 80s. with the language relinked. Like i said i havent tried it yet. I also have the full version 8lvl CSOd and yeah it has pauses but does not make the game unplayable at all. and thats sitting at 850MB.It kinda preference really if you gotta 2GIG card well than youre prolly laughing at all this. I would be :)

I hear you loud and clear already svt, someone already ripped off my post, followed it almost to a T, but just made the renamed txt files and put them up.... *cough* lame

Thats the damned truth though, people are lazy, want everything, while at the same time contributing nothing. Thats why we're losing devs and mods left and right now, because of snivveling little children who just sit back and wait for things to fall on their lap. A minimum fee should be set for when a dev or mod create something (I'd gladly pay a good chunk of green to booster and dark_alex, lifesavers!) No one appreciates the work ANYONE does anymore, because the psp is to open to little children who dont have access to financial resources. The devs and mods must be rewarded, instead of *OMG this brckied my psp FiRsT PoSt roXXXrz*

that is all

also deo:
The fact that it chugs whenever it has to draw something in the distance is damn annoying, I cso'd to all levels and dax'd the damn thing but you'll notice the difference when you ISO it. And also, I have 2 4gb cards, but I still want to make the most of my space. And to tell the truth, I cant stand jumping into the car and theres some annoying ass music playing either... rip it

uhm...

When I open the iso with WinRAR, there's no option to delete files. How do I got about doing this? (I'm trying to delete the update folder in the Myst iso.)

You have to extract the ISO first. BTW how is Myst for PSP?

No clue lol, I can't fit it on my 1 gb memory stick. That's why I'm trying to take out the unneccesary files. When I compress it to a dax or cso, nothing happens, it barely gets compressed at all. o.O

Hey guys, what program can you use to turn PSP_GAME and UMD_DATA back into an iso? I just extracted them from the iso so I can delete the files. Hopefully it'll fit. :D
