I Tried Looking Through Some Of The Threads In This Forum And I Couldn't Find Anything To Help Me Solve My Problem.

Basically, My Downloads Are Either Really Slow Or They Don't Even Download. Sometimes, They Will Download For About 2 - 3 Mins, But Then They Will Just Cut Off Again.

I'm Pretty Sure It's To Do With This Port Forwarding Thing That I Read About In Some Of The Posts.

However I Can't Seem To Find A Way To Forward Ports On My Router. Maybe I Wasn't Looking In The Right Threads...

Here Are The Details:

Azureus 2.5.0.0
Netgear DG834GT Router
McAfee Security Center
Windows XP Home Edition SP2

If There Is Anymore Info You Would Like Please Let Me Know...

Thank You

To forward your ports, go here to forwarding, find your router, select it and follow the instructions. Setting a static ip address won't be necessary unless your address changes every time you restart. That site gives you instructions for setting a dynamic address if needed: http://www.portforward.com/ And get your ip address at ipconfig/all as it may differ from that shown, mine does.

Are you talking about the "IP Address" shown in the ipconfig /all ?

Because that always stays the same.

And I was reading through the website you gave to me.

It says something about a "Virtual Server" Page. I don't think my router has one of those. If it does, then I can't find it... =/

Yes, the address given at start>run>type in cmd>hit ok>type in config/all>hit enter. If that address never changes, you wom't need to set a static ip. I'm not even sure what a Virtual Server is, ignore that.

Actually, I'm wrong about Virtual Server. I think it's where your internet connection is set for Azureus and you should find it by following the instructions for accessing your router and port forwarding. At least, mine does. Sorry about that. I don't know if this will be any help but on my D-Link, it's under Advanced.

I still don't see the Virtual Server page, even after reading everything it said on the PortForwarding site.

But I don't think I need to worry about it, because my downloads are working normally again....at least for now they are. I'll try and find out about that Virtual Server thing though, just in case.

If I get any more problems, I'll be sure to post up here.

Thanks a lot.

OK, I'm still having the same problems.

I followed that PortForwarding tutorial for my DG834GT Router and I'm pretty sure I did the port forwarding right.

I tried out the NAT/Firewall Test and it seems that the port isn't opened.

Unless this message means something different.

"Testing Port 50000 ... Unable to test: Invalid port given, or test service failed. Another application may already be using this port."

And I Don't Think It's Just That Port Either

Any Ideas?

And just in case you were wondering, my McAfee firewall has been configured too.

Check out the "torrent firewalled flowchart" at this site: http://www.plucky.org/download-central/p2p-tutorials/ It covers jist about every possibility of firewall problems.

I think it might be the UPnP thing in Azureus...

Problem is...whenever I try to turn it off...Azureus just crashes. =/

I'll try and find a way to close it without it crashing...

Thanks...I'll see what happens...

Maybe, if Azureus keeps crashing and you have no luck, try a different client. utorrent is very good and I used BitTornado some time ago wth no problem. Actually, it sounds as if Azureus may be the problem; some programs just won't work on some computers.

I think it's all sorted now with Azureus. And I'm not even sure how. Maybe I just needed some patience.

My observations are showing me that Azureus works fine with just one torrent being downloaded.

I'm not sure but I'm presuming that it should still work if I have 2 or more running as well.

I'll test it out and see what happens.

Anyway..
Thanks for all your help mistycat.

its actually a good idea not to do more than 3 downloads off BT. i think because it slows your
overall download speed (number of kbs per second type thing?) and slows your compy
down...im not sure. but it seems to do that to mine, while i have my BT client opened and
running more than 2 downloads.

Right you are munkeeboy. I never run more than 2 torrents and, only then, when 1 has completed. Otherwise, you're just sharing your bandwidth between them. Dont know about the pc running slower. May be a RAM and/or client issue, like I said, I never run more than 2 torrents.
