Actually properly encoded, SVCD is extremely near DVD quality, you wouldnt even notice the difference!

Yeah maybe , but is the whole process done in 1hr 30 mins or less ?
And is it usual for SVCD to be a single disc solution ??
For less quality (definite)
A DVD Burner can be bought for £69:99 <-
Could all be down to common sense

I would like to use the Chopin or Tchycovsky method.
I recommend Easy CD as it is really the lazy way, not encoder but a one click solution. If you don`t like using mutiple programs, its not bad. I personly don`t like Nero and grew up with Easy CD. Nero really is hard to buy in Canada, but Easy CD typically comes with every Burner and can buy in any store.
But Dela you are right he should use TMPGEnc for encoding.

Yep, for VCD, IMHO, the best thing to do is, use TMPGEnc for encoding (frameserving to it from DVD2AVI) then when u got your mpg, slip it for 2 cds and then use VCDEasy to author chapters and then burn using VCDEasy!

1) This is DVD-R for Newbies...
Original question to start this thread:
Quote: Okay, i wanna burn my downloaded movies from kazza onto a cd-rw to play in my dvd player, please tell me how or/and give me some links to software that i can do this with.
So it doesnt even belong here!
2) Dela , do away with 2 disc solutions mate (thats yesteryear)
Peace

Well say that to bill himself since he is an aD user! He would stand up against Piledrive and tell him how the net does help a true artist, so thats makes him shit??
And as for defending nero as an option over TMPGEnc, pleaseeeeeeeeeee, you should know it cant encode of all people!
Quote: No one here is disagreeing that TMPGEnc is the best/cheapest MPEG encoder (it is complicated enough to spin out newbies heads tho , that has to be agreed by yourself Dela as you answer enough questions on it's usage & correct settings)
So what are you saying?? Tell newbies to use Nero and never mind the fact that they will get out of sync problems and upside down playback?? wouldnt that spin newbies heads off??
Quote: 2) Dela , do away with 2 disc solutions mate (thats yesteryear)
If people dont have dvd burners what are they supposed to do?? thats yesteryear?? there are more ppl making vcd/svcd still than there is those encoding to dvd-r! And for the record I have a DVD Burner and use it a lot but when i see someone who needs to know how to make a vcd/svcd properly i will tell them the best way i know how!!
Now we get along well man, so why for about half this thread you decided to challange me or something i dont know but I've said what I need to say and thats it for me!

Hi, I've been using TMPGEnc for around 1 year now (since I started ripping and encoding), and I'm still backing up to these prehistoric dinosaurs known as VCDs and SVCDs, and haven't upgraded to one of those spaceage DVD burners yet. Nero is a terrible encoder, tried and tested once, never again might I add. TMPGEnc is not a complicated encoder to use and every option is pretty self-explainitory --> It's worth getting used to instead of taking the one-click Nero route.
I guess I'll continue to be a fool producing poor poor quality 2 disc solutions which takes longer than 1 hr 30 mins.

My engish teacher from High school would be happy, so many quotes.
Why is the same confused point being argued. For encoding use an encoder, thats what their there for. For first time users, one click solutions are good as it makes then know its possible, easy, can work, and they can do it. That`s how I also feel. Then When you get the one click solution working, you start to say I would like to do X better or I wish I could Z. Then you start playing around with other programs or write your own.
So One click lazy solutions are good, and encoders are also good. It just depends how confident or new to the Scene you are.
Thats My rant.

Prisoner man, Nero only causes problems trust me, i have made 100's of vcd's/svcd's in the past and im tellin u anytime i tried Nero, I got the weirdest playback problems. It's just not good advice to tell somebody to use something that you know can cause trouble, so I dont, and I mean on all the guides around the net, there is always an encoder used, even if Nero is used to burn, almost everyone agrees Nero cant encode!

I wasn`t recommeding Nero. I am not that big a fan either. I do like Roxio6 and think it is the easy and best (really slow) lazy one click answer.

I use Sonic Foundry Vegas 4.0 in conjunction with DVD Architect [to make DVD compliant].
I started with Nero + SVCD plug-in but VCD is too poor quality & SVCD was only a multi-disc solution , something I wasn't willing to accept.
P.S. We're still way off thread so perhaps someone might like to start a thread titled 'ALL HAIL TMPGenc' : )

Hey herbsman if you have something to say email me directly bill@billlonero.com
Let me hear some of your great music! I don't see you on here providing your stuff for download? You are so typical of the armchair quarterback. Easier to point and criticize then put YOUR reputation on the line.
Don't bother me with your childish comments I don't have time.
