Hi mono1975
What movie are you doing? You're getting this error Error reading data Something may be up w/ the file/movie.

Did you rip it to your hard drive or are you using something like AnyDVD running in the background?

Here's some other tips for you:
Recorder: <LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-160P6S>Version: PS09
Update the firmware to the latest - PSOB
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2175

Disc Manufacturer ID: MBIPG101,
Not the best. Better to use would be Verbatim or made in Japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell.

Burn process started at 16x
For these disc take it down to 8x or lower.

Cars is the movie. I use the Ripit4me program.I close everything before I get DVD Shrink to start burning. Its gives me an error between 20 and 40 percent. As far as switching DVD I've never had a problem with these and I have quite a collection.

Is this the only movie that has given you this problem since you installed the new hard drive?

Cars does have Macrovision junk on it. Are you running FixVTS on the full file after the rip?

I couldnt burn High school musical either. I did have a problem with National lampoons Christmas vacation when I ran it thru the ripit4me software.I got an error when it ran thru DVD Shrink. But when I ran it thru DVD dycrypter then DVD Shrink it burned. Yesterday I downlowded a some firmware updates for my burner and DVD Shrink burned up to 95 percent before I got the error.
Whats my next step?

Ok so you got one movie done since you added the new hard drive. Jumpers set correctly on the hard drives? (just checking)

Post this last log that filed at 95% and let's take a peak.

Yes I think something is up with one of the files. Are you running it thru FixVTS before opening it in Shrink?
Using 1 click mode or wizard w/ RipIt4Me?

I'd still update the firmware on the LiteOn drive too.

You lost some ram too - down to Physical memory : 223MB
Your previous log had - Physical memory : 479MB
A stick go bad?

Something went wrong with mem stick its still there I guess its not reading it.
Ok I got a new error. The movie "into the blue" gave me an error but burned ok when I dycrypted it into an ISO file. I updated the firmware like you said. I have noticed that my burner gets extremely hot and the dvd's also come out hot when it gives me an error. Do you think this could be an issue as well? I faced a fan toward the opened PC and it burned Black Dawn which is a Sony Picture.

Thank You so much for your help I feel like were almost to a fixing piont, I really appreciate your advise.

Here is the new error

No problemo on the help mono1975
It's look like the one stick of memory went bad so best to replace it.
Might want to chekc it and make sure still in there securely.

The drive getting hot - are you shutting it down daily or at least rebooting daily?

Clean it up a bit if you haven't very recently. Do the regular maintenance bit like virus & spyware scans, disc defrag (do 1 on both) and run a registry cleaner like ccleaner. Use the cleaner and issues options. If you have one you use then do a disc cleanup also.

So some of your backups go fine and some aren't. Still getting the same error: Error reading data

Are you using the same hard drive on the successful ones and the failed ones?

Burn process failed at 16x
Take this down to 8x or lower. Esp since they media is so so and the drive is getting hot.

Which option are you using in RipIt4Me - wizard or 1 click?

Give this a go above and let us know. May not be a bad idea if it fails again to post the log from RipIt4Me. I'm not the best at reading them but may be able to see something.

Still the same error reading data. Which hard drive are you using to save the files - the new one or old one?

Have you tried switching the hard drive the movie is saved to? Might want to try that to see if the problem is the hard drive itself.

Yeah a pic might be good of how you installed it. Set the jumpers correctly?
How about the manufacturer of the pc? What's the watts on the power supply?

The RipIt4Me log is clean - nothing wrong with the rip.
To change the burn spped when you click 'backup' in Shrink click on the burn settings tab. You can change the speed there.
