I've played around with it for about an hour or so, and can't figure it out. Here's what I want to do:

I want a black screen, with some text and audio, to hang for about 10 seconds, then disappear and begin playing the movie.

I'm in the timeline mode, and can get my text and audio in there just fine, but the text, audio AND movie all start at the same time.

I can't figure out how to move the entire movie down the timeline about 10 seconds, or maybe it isn't even possible. It would be somewhat like doing credits at the end of the video, but I want it at the beginning instead.

Any ideas?

Thanks a bunch!
Craig

I was thinking....should I record some video with the lens cap on? Maybe that's the only way to get a few seconds of black screen.

Any other options?

Usually when I need some black video I just take a black .jpg, png image and make a short (very short!) DVD-Video slideshow with it.
Save that to a folder and then import it into any video project I need it in. You could also add text to it while converting it. You just need a big black square, you could probably make it in Paint.
As far as getting the audio to start correctly, the black video will let you do that.
Nero always wants to start by playing the Video Track first. What I mean is that you can push the audio track "up" the timeline, relative to the video, but you cannot push the video up the timeline relative to the audio. Make sense? The black video clip, in front of your main video should give you the offset you are looking for.
Hehe I like the lens cap idea!

Thanks frank....great idea!
I tell ya, when I thought I wasn't going to get a reply, I started looking at Windows Movie Maker - it's already on my PC. It will let me do exactly what I'm talking about. I'd hate to give up Nero, because it's what I learned on, but WMM looks like it has about everything Nero does, maybe more. And looks less complicated, and the support for it is all over the web.
Anybody got any thoughts about WMM?
Thanks again.

I really like the transitions and other effects in WMM. The problem is that it does not output DVD-Video files.
You will have to do another conversion to get the WMM stuff onto a DVD if that's what you want.

I'm a MovieMaker user and I love it. Very simple and easy to use, at least for the stuff that I do. I've recently started video editing and it fits my needs. With the exception of some codec problems(my fault), it works well. I have Nero as well but I don't really use it for editing. The only editing I do in it is DVR-MS files which are my tv recordings.

Is it possible to do the editing with WMM, then burn it with Nero?

Yes. But make sure your final product is in wmv, AVI, or mpeg format.
