It's amazing to see there's still people claiming that their *fill in the blank* is "best".
In the end, whatever client works best for you is what would be best.
That could be Utorrent, Azureus, ABC, BitTornado, or the original BitTorrent client.
Just try out a few clients, see what works best on your system.

What he said.

I personally prefer Azureus, but it's not the best choice for ubernoobs, that title probably belongs to Bram's original client.

I provide all kinds of support for Azureus, but not for uT, however lots of people provide support for uTorrent. (uT=uTorrent in my posts.)

But yea, do what fiend said. Try out a couple, stick w/ what fits. If you get lost, I'd point you to the links in my sig or the sticky posts in this forum.

i'd tried downloading and using Azureus. its seems to be that Azureus is powered by java application and utorrent is a c++ compilation, thus this affect the speed of each client, I know that these are different, Is this two have the same speed or could be faster...?

Speed doesn't vary by client choice, its more about your connection & the torrent.

I prefer utorrent... its very light.. customizable and all that jazz... very "newbie" friendly too..

To reiterate there are soo many factors that contribute to speed...
-uploaders speed
-number of peers
-your connection
-tweaks that you have done
and a few others.

Dun-dun-dun, math time!
768kbps is what you say you have. Now...is that KBps or Kbps?

768KBps is slightly over 6Megabits, but I'm assuming you have 769kbps, which is 8x slower, coming in at just over half a megabit.

bit = b, lower case
Byte = B, upper case
8 bit = 1 Byte
1024 bits = 1 Kilobit
1024 Bytes= 1 Kilobyte
1024 Kilobits = 1 Megabit
1024 Kilobytes = 1 Megabyte
1024 Megabits = 1 Gigabit
1024 Megabbytes = 1 Gigabyte
1024 Gigabits = 1 Terabit
1024 Gigabytes = 1 Terabyte
1024 Terabits = 1 Petabit
1024 Terabytes = 1 Petabyte

So, assuming that a 2 GB file is 2048 Megabytes, time for math.
768Kb, is only 98KB, abbreviated as 98K, in computer terms, 98K/s.

So how long will it take to get 1 Megabyte with that much throughput?
1024/98=10.45 seconds to get 1 megabyte. So let's figure 1024 Megabytes= 10.45 x 1000 (for a Gigabyte), or 10450.0 seconds, or 174.17 minutes. We need 2 of those, so 174.17 x 2 = 348.3r minutes.

348.33/60 for hours = 5.81 hours, assuming max througput at every second of the transfer. However, you'll really be lucky to get a sustained transfer of 80% of max, so / by .8, and you get 7.26 hours, or so, to transfer that file, assuming no other variables.

And that's todays lesson on making crap way to complicated.

I break it down like this.

Rule 1, nothing is de-facto "faster" than anything else assuming it is configured correctly.

Rule 2, I like to tweak, so I like Azureus.

Rule 3, I only know enough to know that I know very little.

So, for n00bs, I recommend clients in this order:
1. Bram's original BT client
2. BitTornado
3. uTorrent

//Puts on flame proof jacket//
Then when you're ready to be one of the big boys on the playground, you switch to Azureus. :)

So...I use Azureus, but I don't recommend it if you don't want to take the time to LEARN how BT works and how to tweak it for optimal performance.

if the NAT smiley stays yellow, then your ports aren't configured correctly, or some other aspect of your setup is borked.

There are lots of guides in this forum that are stickied towards the top, I suggest you read those.

Also, I have my own site, it's in my signature. You can grab the BT Bible, it illustrates everything pretty well, even though it is getting a little bit dated.

There are several other tutorials there too, including a video tutorial about configuring Azureus.

uT is pretty configurable too, but honestly, I haven't used it in about 4 versions, so I don't know the interface. The uTorrent site has a pretty good wiki/help though, I've pointed people there several times.

edit: BTW, thanks for the kudos. Send all your friends there and link everyone to it. HEHE, now I'm gonna get modded.

it depends if you are a beginner or a advanced person with torrents. Azureus give you the choice to be either a beginner, intermediate or advaced when running it

so I recimend it ;)

BitComet is a leecher client. I won't go too far into details, but basically it allows you to get more than you should.

Dunno what this "BT Engine" is, but I suspect it's not all that great. It probably opens up half open ports and changes some read/write timings in the registry.

The only engine that I've ever actually seen make anything faster is CfosSpeed, which is a fairly badass program, but it can be a pain to get rid of.

oh, edit: BitComet will get you banned on LOTS of private trackers. (most, anyway)
