Hi guys,
Yeah that's 48-bit LBA addressing and you do not seem to have support for it in your IDE controller (on motherboard).
Also, Win2000 and WinXP do not recognize large volumes either - but if your install CD is at least SP1 like yours, or of course SP2, then you're okay.
You should probably SlipStream your CD into SP2 version (if you're into these things).
But you can check for a BIOS update for your motherboard! Some of the most recent BIOS updates for older mobos will fix just that, adding support for large HD volumes.
Regards
EDIT: you do have SP1 CD right?
If not, no large HD volumes for you during OS install.
You can of course then upgrade the install to SP2 and create large storage drives...

SUP, I got a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 SATA-300 hard drive, I couldn?t find anything in my bios. I checked that XP cd I used and it was the original without any service packs, i later downloaded them but without any luck with windows recognizing the correct amount. I don?t really care much any more because I?m getting a new hard drive to use as a master; I just hope Vista won?t have the same capacity recognition issues. Thanks for the input, l8er :)

when get the 80 gig, load xp with either sp1 or 2 with the 250gig offline. once that is done, online the 250 & will be able to use entire 250gig as 1 drive as i've done that with a 300gig sata for a customer.

No - with an original (non-servicepacked) XP CD, it doesn't matter what your BIOS supports, you will not get large volume support during the OS install.
You should immediately update (Slipstream) your WinXP CD to SP2.
