Hey,

So for the last two weeks or so I have been making lots and lots of 'coasters' with my dvd's that I am attempting to burn onto. I get the following error message when it tells me that it failed. Any suggestions????

It doesn't have anything to do with the last entry in the log pertaining to DRM?

I'm having the same problem but only with "cars" when I try to use shrink. Multiple coaster after ripping with DVDFAB latest version 10/30. I have an ISO made with Decrypter, will try shrink with that. All other dvds, no ploblems.

1) Get your dma's turned on like albundy posted and edit out your Nero serial # using the icon of a pencil/eraser in the right corner of your opening post.
2) Update that firmware like gurnard posted
3) Completely remove both Nero 6 and 7 from your pc using these tools:
http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/us/Nero_6_CleanTool.html
http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html

4) Run Nero cleantool 6 first, then Nero clean tool 7. I'm not sure if cleantool 7 will remove all the remnants of leftover Nero 6 from your pc. Leftover remnants really screw up dvd burning.

5) Reload your Nero 7- but update it to one of the latest updates. Lots of problems with the first version. Or load Nero 6 if you prefer-leave out the INCD packets of both of them.

6)

I have been making lots and lots of 'coasters'
Look at the bottom side of these so called coasters for any actual burn. Tell us if there is discoloration where it tried to burn.

7) Are those ligitimate tys? Lots of fakes out there. Look on the bottom side of the disc,close to the purple dye near the inner hub for a code in large caps + numbers like: GC000143 or similar. The Ty-g02 MID code can be faked,not that batch # with 2 letters and 6 digits. Look very closely with bright light.

Encryption related? Both DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter can't handle some of these newer releases-sony/columbia. I used AnyDVD by slysoft to help DVD Shrink rip Cars. DVD Shrink gave me an Invallid Navigation error. Should be other free ways around like VobBlanker,etc. Just search for all the threads titled Cars.

Wow, I can't thank you all enough for all the help you are giving to me.

I edited out my serial.

I updated my firmware earlier today with the link you gave me. I am about to turn on the DMA, and use the Nero clean tools.

The number on the bottom of my Taiyo Yudens are as follows:
GG000103
I got them from SuperMediaStore.com, and I sure hope they are the real thing. I used to use Ritek, but realized that Taiyo is the way to go.

Also, there was actual burn on the bottom side of my ruined dvd's. It is only a few millimeters, though, it always fails during the first 4% during the initial "Lead In".

Thanks again for all the help, I will start cleaning and updating now, I will let you know if I have any luck.

@beerlover,
That's exactly how I burned Cars, AnyDVD disabled > Decrypter ISO read > Shrink the ISO > Burn.
Alkohol did it using Decrypter in the file mode. So in reality Cars is really easy to burn! Of course every region can be different

@bg6thny,
I get my tys from supermedia store as well. Mine are TYG-02 8X DVD-R. The number looks like GG000196 or maybe ee0001ae. I need a better light and a magnifying glass. Some of the numbers look backwards??

I've bought several hundred from SuperMediaStore and never had a problem. I used Ritek for quite some time as well.
Cheers Frank

Hooray!

It looks like its working, I have burned 3 dvd's without any issues, so hopefully I am not speaking too soon, but it looks good so far.

I have been burning for a few years now, and I have gone through hundreds of dvd's and Taiyo is definitly the best, I'm glad the problem was software issues and not my drive or media.

Thanks again for everyone's help!!

When I experienced firmware issues,it was failing during the Lead-in phase and disc would be spit out. No actual burning took place on mine,so the backups were ok and burned them later. You wouldn't believe how many peeps threw their so called coasters away that didn't have an actual burn.

Good Luck and Burn On!

Hey again.....

Just a day or two after all of this 'worked' I started getting a new error and haven't been able to burn a dvd since. The error follows. This time it is burning sometimes up to half the disc before messing up. I have no clue what is going on here. I updated firmware, updated Nero, updated shrink, made sure my discs are Taiyo Yuden, not sure what to do now...
