I am running on 1Meg (1.2mbps nearly always)Broadband no other progs running and green lights always on Az (except ratio because I am still very new and have few items to share) but my download speed rarely gets above 10k and even then only for a very short time. I have read many threads and tried everything I understand and even some things I don't, all to no avail....all other progs run very slowly if at all if I try them...outlook & Mozilla etc.
I only have 2 downloads allowed and there are 3 items in the upload window (2 complete?)
anyone have any ideas?

I don't have the answer but I have exactly the same issue and I am running on a 4 Meg line. I also have tried all the threads, static routes, all sorts of config within Azureus etc etc etc. I have achieved DL speeds of well in excess of 150 Kb/s with other P2P programmes, Azureus, like you say doesn't go above about 10.

I just posted a new *video* tutorial at my site (in my sig) for optimal settings for Azureus.

Otherwise---sabre, if you're seeding two things, then you're upping everything it'll let you up, as you have 2 uploads allowed---the torrent you're downloading requires 1 slot, b/c you upload as you download.

a couple likely scenarios here for both of you:
a firewall is limiting your connection somehow
you haven't set up your uploads at 80% of your maximum upload
you're choosing torrents that aren't well seeded
you're on SP2 and haven't downloaded the lvllord patch

Info on how to do most of those things can be found at the first link in my sig, the BT bible---or on one of the tutorials on the site.

Try finding some torrent that's really well seeded, say the newest distro of Ubuntu, and see if your speeds are any better...then report back.

@TomMelee, I am so glad that I found this thread, my old router DLink model Dl 704P just cacked itself and I was given a replacement (same model) but unfortunately I didnt have the foresight to write down the ports I was using so now I am confused. I have cut and pasted your tutorial and printed it out for easier following, my son plays Warcraft, downloads through Azureus and I use both, Azureus and limewire so hopefully I should be able to get things working OK...I will keep you posted.

An excellent web site you have developed..Cheers.

Well it appears I've failed the inteligence test, I dont know what to do, heres 3 screen shots, maybe someone can take my hand and walk me through what I need to do.

I.P. address is 192.168.0.xxx
subnet 255.255.255.0
Default gateway 192.168.0.1
address assigned by DHCP (if this makes sense)

The only entry I have added is the warcraft one, all others were already present.

Pick the application you want here:

and it'll give you all the instructions you should need.

There is an "emulator" at the dlink website that lets you look around:
http://support.dlink.com/emulators/di704p_revB/smap.htm

All you have to is log into your router, click Advanced, click Virtual Server (I think that's the default screen anyway), click ENABLE, enter the primary port Azureus will be using (You can find this out under the options screen. I don't do P2P so I'm not sure exactly where, but it's there). Under Service IP, enter the IP of YOUR machine (or whatever machine will be running Azureus - it really needs to be set up with a static IP). Click Always, then click Apply. The same would apply for Warcraft except that the ports are 6112-6119, so create a second rule and enter "6112-6119" rather than the single port you picked for Azureus.

If all else fails, you can put your machine in the DMZ. Again, your machine should be on a static IP. You will lose the protection of the router's firewall - you need to have a good software firewall running - but it'll work. You also lose a lesser degree protection if you use port forwarding. You really need to port-forward or run in the DMZ though in order to get the most out of Azureus. Unfortunately, P2P and firewalls tend to be somewhat mutually exclusive.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.
