hi, im using devhook for FW 2.71 (got it from http://www.dark-alex.org/), and i have FW2.71 installed
im triying to run the GTA: Liberty city stories iso, and im using the following settings:
Firmware: 2.71 (flash)
CPU clock: 222MHz/111Mhz.
Boot select: Reboot XMB
UMD Select: file.cso
UMD SFO Version: no change
Remote ctrl: remote controller
Preload address: 0x89400000
everything goes right, but i receive an error in the end thats reads like this: "This disc cannot be started. The region code is not correct"
all the iso's i have tried have an 'a' or an 'e' at the beginning of the iso. Does that means those isos are for ASIA and Europe Regions and i cant run them? i saw some 'u' but havent tried those yet. The ones with the 'a' or 'e' were supposed to be usa versions, but it seems they are not. My PSP is USA region. Am i right and those isos are from other regions and i can not run them? should i try other settings/flash?
PD: im having the UMD disc drive open all the time until the time when i select start from the devhook menu. and no other errors are received.

I didn't think games were region coded? Sony haven't...they wouldn't have...would they?
I'd say you should try getting a different version of GTA:VCS, and try that.

is it the EUR one? cuz i dont think games from asia works hence regional code.

i just tried another GTA iso, same problem...oh, also, im using a movie UMD to have the iso work...that umd by itself works....its the movie STRIPES (with bill murray), and i think they do use some sort of region code, because the UMD case has a big '1' in the back (for Region 1 I think). Could it be a problem with this disc?...this is weird...and i dont have another UMD at the moment to try.
alos, any comments about the devhook settings? is everything ok?

It could be because Devhook Ultimate Installer uses Japanese firmware dumps.

Yup, the problem is that you are using a movie disc, not a game one. That's where the region coding problem is coming in. Do you have a game disc that you could use? If not, you could pick up one on ebay for cheap, or get Dark_Alex custom firmware SE-B'', that has pretty good NO-UMD support for ISOs now.

well....i wanted to try with devhook, because it practically wont install anything on the PSP flash, but on the memory stick...but this Dark_Alex custom firmware SE-B is a whole new firmware.
if i install it, can i go back to sonys firmware? an have it like with the factory installation? can i remove the custom firmware?, also, i think i saw somewhere it had some problems with wireless and some other features

are you sure i can go back?...also, remember im using a ta-082 with 2.71 FW so i dont think i can go to 1.5, but what you mean is i can always remove the custom FW and have the normal 2.71?

You didn't mention you had a TA-082!!
You CANNOT use the custom firmware, please don't try or you will brick your PSP! Keep using Devhook on your 2.71, get a game UMD and that should work with your ISOs.

i am having a similar problem:
i have firmware 1.50 and have tried using
fastloader v07
umd emulator v0.8
iam having the error message of "This disc cannot be started. The region code is not correct"
sofar i have tried: vice city stories, ace combat x, and killzone, none worked.
any suggestions?

i have loaded dev hook on my memstick,
what options/settings should i have to have game run, because i have tried different settings and i get a error message saying game cannotn load...?
