The Recovery function a allow you to unbrick your psp from mild or semi brick by allowing you to use the USB mode to run an firmware eboot while your psp is "semi brick" that can be cused when custumizing you psp with gameboots fonts or backgroud.
Could work for a brick brick but i doubt it.

This feature comes with custom firmwares, such as Harleyg's and Dark alex's for 1.5. I personally recommend hardley's.

and the 2.71 se-b custom firmware which alse has it.

no, but if you brick your PSP, this allows you to access your USB port and copy the nessary files (1.50 firmware)to your memory stick and launch it.

Are you the one who got trapped in 1.5 because of a messed up gameboot long ago?

If your gonna make your own custom gameboots, run them on emulated firmware through devhook first.
