Demo versions do not have that option, only versions that have been purchased.

No, I believe ALL demo versions are void of this option....there is a free trial of ConvertX that will do the same thing, heres the link

the trial version will leave a "watermark" at the top of the screen...it appears randomly saying you can remove it by purchasing a key.
An excellent , easy to use prog.

The reason is probably that Nero did not see your DVD drive when you installed, therefore you aren't given that option. Or you have CD selected and did not choose the DVD option. The software is fully functional in it's Demo version.
I don't know if the below question addresses your problem, but you might check. There have also been some threads about installing DVD drives but I don't know which ones they were. I will look and let you know if I find one.

I believe you need to have a fully functional version (i.e. purchased with a Nero Serial Key) to have all of the options. Even if I selected CD, CD/DVD or DVD via Nero ProductSetup (StartSmart), I still have the "Make DVD option" from Nero Vision. That being said; if you have a fully functional Nero 7 Ultra or Premium, then you'll see (have) the "Make DVD option" via Nero Vision.
To be honest, I never tried to run Nero Vision with just the "demo trial" to see if "Make DVD option" was there or not. However, I'm confident that it's "not your drive" or "you've selected only the CD option via Nero ProductSetup".
Look at pictures below for reference:

Quote: * Free Online Activation required for full DVD, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and AVC functionality. Does not copy discs with copy-protection
The above comes from the notes on the Nero Download site. I don't remember actually having done anything special to complete the free online registration, but I suppose you might check and make sure that was accomplished.
Other than that, I might ask if you have any other software that might have control of the drive, like Roxio. The only suggestion I have seen to try to restore the drive is to uninstall it and let Windows reinstall it.
