Hello -

I just bought a laptop with no HD. How do I determine what kind of HD I need? Also, I'm sure this is a newb question, but are desktop and laptop HD's different?

Desktop and laptop hard drives are different. Go to Samsungs hard drive site and put in the make and model of your laptop and it'll give you the specs on a replacement Hard drive. Just did this for a HP N3350 laptop and ordered at Newegg for $30.00 Chris

laptops use 2.5" hd's & desktops use 3.5" hd with some olders ones with 5.25". what is the make & model of laptop to see what was in it before & what you might be able to put in?

this is from the specs of the laptop. should be able to go higher in capacity.
20- to 40-GB removable hard drive with Ultra-DMA 100 interface.
