The CPU is the microprocessor. That CPU someone recommended won't work with your motherboard, nor will the memory you are considering. Look at getting an ABIT KN9 Socket AM2 and that same CPU, or, if you are on a budget, keep the motherboard you intended to buy and get a cheapie Socket 939 CPU and regular DDR PC3200 memory.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

If you don't understand what I'm talking about, you shouldn't be building your own machine. I'm usually the first to "dumb down" things so anyone can understand them, but you gotta have some level of knowledge before doing this type of thing. It might be better to find a friend who builds his own machines and let him walk you through component selection and, maybe, a build or two. That might also save you money from some of the "gotchas" you'll run into.
