Ok, i could really use any help here. I've tried a ton of stuff. My problem is that my lite-on 1633S just up and stoped working 3 days ago. I've searched all over the net, and there are alot of similar problems but no solutions that have worked (atleast not for me). It reads cd's and dvd's but does not write dvd's. I haven't tried to write a cd yet, as i dont have a ton left in my spindle. When ever i try to burn a backup copy of a game, i'm getting a I/O error from DVD Decrypter and at the bottom of that error it says write error. It usually stops at 22% where the buffer goes down to 0, up to 100 then down to 0 again. Then it flashes the I/O error.

I've tried updating firmware, The flash says that 1633S flash file says it can't detect my dvd drive, yet underneath that error it shows (on the error page) that it's there.

I've tried reinstalling various combinations of both the drive and the IDE's, i've checked all connections, i've updated all my drivers, I've also cleared out hard drive space, tried to burn files that i've sucessfully burned before.

I'm using Verbatim's, and even tried memorex disk's with no avail.

Below are some system spec's. Any help would be appreciated. I've been on this project for 2 days now, and i'm pulling out my hair in clumps!

Make sure DMA is on. See this..
http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/231/dmaissues

Also, try to update your firmware with this one.
http://www.liteonit.com/DOWNLOADS/ODD/SO...re/DR16BS0Y.zip

If that doesn't work, post the burn log of your last failed burn for us to see. :)

I crossflashed my 1613 to a 1653 and got much better burns. Might be worth a try.
