I download movies from the net, they are already in mpeg format, but when i burn them to disk, i doesn't play in my dvd player, i also downloaded tmpegn, and tried that, but it also did not work. the only program that got close to working was vcdgear, but when i played the movie on my dvd player, all i got was a scrabble picture, what do i need to do?

no, that did not work either, the only option to download on the page was TMPGEnc plus, is this the correct software? when i use this method, and burn it to cd, it plays fine in computers dvd drive, but when i try to play in in my stand alone dvd play, the only thing that happens, it shown "track 1, the title, and use on" on the screen. what do i do, the files where download already in mpeg format, and when i copy those files direct to disk and try to play them on my dvd player, i get the same response.

First are you trying to burn to a CD or a DVD? If it is a CD and I understand what you did, you might want to check the specs. of your DVD player. It may not be able to play VCDs. If you are going to a DVD then yes you will need a seperate TMPGeng DVD Author. You can get a trial down load A http://www.pegasys-inc.com/e_main.html. Believe it or not a lot of the video stuff is not plug and play. It may take some studing to get it down.

I had the same problem...but I finally got it to work. If you have 2 long mpeg file you should join them first with TMPGEnc ...it should be in the File -> Tools -> then far right tab. Then close and reopen and use the wizard to make a NTSC or PAL DVD... just follow along the prompt. It should create 2 file one .mv2 and one mpeg. audio. Then you have to author those files...I use DVD Lab..but there are many programs out there. That should produce your necessary IFO, VOB, BUP files...then you can burn with Nero or any other burning SW.

Note: You have to install TMPGEnc right with the plugin like besweet... so read the installation guide.

Hope that help... I was so happy when my first DL movie was playing on my DVD player... just the quality is still like SVCD. Oh well...

I thought you wanted to burn your mpeg to DVD. Well then just load your mpeg movies in Nero and chose VCD. If Nero gives you an error then you have to go to TMPGEnc and rencoded to VCD format then burn with Nero.

If you install TMPGEnc right the you should go through the wizard and chose VCD, and follow the prompts.. that should make your mpeg file VCD compliance.

Good Luck
