Best Router under $100 for handling many connections for torrents?

Hey, I currently have a semi-old Linksys WRT54G v2 router that really struggles when I have even 30-40 connections for torrents. I've tried changing my firmware to the HyperWRT and adding a bunch of lines of code to my router startup script, but it never seems to work for me. I also applied that Windows XP patch that boosts the available number of connections (its some event id patch) but that didn't help either. I get very good download speeds in ”Torrent, but downloading torrents really slows down any other internet related task such as browsing or emailing, etc.

I am just looking to buy a new router that will solve this problem and I am asking for recommendations on which ones you guys have had good experiences with. Thanks in advance.

Also, I have a pretty old Motorola Surfboard SB4100 modem that I am using with a Comcast cable connection that I have never had any problems with for years. Could that be the problem instead of the router?
