I'm just a new forum nooblet with a simple noob question. I read through this whole post and I'm pretty sure I know the answer but I wanted to be extra sure before I did anything.

My situation is this. I am going to buy a psp from a friend with FW 2.5 on it as well as a 4gb memory stick. Will I have any problems with the memory stick as some people have been having if I use Frankie' method?

Oh man. I screwed up earlier today. I accidentally posted a new thread when I was meaning to reply to this thread:

Now my thread is pointless and I probably accidentally made some people angry.

thanks for the reply though!

First you have to check whether your PSP has a TA-082A motherboard.

This is how:
Quote:
(Credit to Modchipstore) You can check by opening the UMD drive of your psp. And checking to see if there is the "TA-082" yellow words on the mother board, if so it is the new model, if it doesnt show, it means it's not the newer models and its safe to get it chiped using the modchip and safe to downgrade using the 2.5/2.6 downgrader. Here's the link to a more detailed look with a picture:

If it isn't then you can downgrade to 1.5 and then use the method described in that thread

Well I'm using 2.71 SE B3 atm.

And I'm lovin it.

There's no need to muck around with DevHook and it has a recovery mode if your PSP bricks.

Heres a guide for it:

Yeah! I was confused. I am very new to this and I was planning on waiting for 2.71 SE-C which is supposedly coming out within the next couple of weeks maybe?

Hey speak of the devil. Its Frankie! I guess it was kind of pointless to ask all these questions anyway since I don't actually have the psp yet. Im getting it in 3ish weeks though from a friend when I go back home for my 3 week winter break, I guess by then 2.71-C will be out in all its glory and I'll also have help so as not to noob it up and brick my psp.

thanks for the help all!
