Hi ignore all other posts as i have ditched that Nero 7 version and downloaded Nero 7 trial from Nero. Can anyone tell me how i can speed up the burning process? If i can do this how does it affect quality?

That depends on your DVD burner and the media you're using. Why in a rush to burn fast? You're more than likely to create more "coasters" when burning at max speed instead of 4X - 8X. However, the choice is yours.

Im in a rush bcoz i put two films on each dvd. So pc is hogged for 3-4 hours at a time. But if speed up affects quality then i will just be patient :(

I think it's your computer if it takes 3-4 hours to do a DVD! You must have a pentium II or III .....how old is your computer?

My laptop is 1 year old it has 1gb ram and 100gb hdrive. The processor is Athlon 64 dual core. It takes 3-4 hours because im doing two films on one disc. If i did one film on dvd it would take length of that one film.

Are you sure your DMA is on? Taking that long on a dual core is ridiculous, for any type of burn!
See alkohols guide about DMA here.
Can you post a burn log for us to look at please?

I'm pretty sure that a mere firmware upgrade will fix this

DMA is something to do with your drives writing ability I think (don't know the exact definition of it).

When you go to burn the DVD, there should be a drop down menu about what speeds you can burn at.
