dvd burner recognized as a cd burner

my dvd burner is recognizing as a cd burner. i tried uninstalling it didnt work tho. have no idea why this happened. any ideas or suggestions?

This is normal, it happens to me sometimes. It's becos CD is the generic form of disk. Are you having problems now this happened or just want some advice? :)

what do u mean by generic disc? right now there is a sony DVD-R and im trying to back up my music but it wont burn. it recognizes it as a DVD-R but says its a cd burner which its not its an lg dvd burner

The first type of disk.

Ok, go to hardware manager and select your drive. Then uninstall it and reboot your PC. The when you restart it, it will find your drive and reinstall.

i tryed that aready it didnt seem to work luckily i thought about generic media and took a disc out put in a music cd and it reverted back to normal also wen i went to burn i had a wrong setting that could have been tha problem which made it look like a cd burner. but problem solved thanks for your help and once again I R R_TARD
