I have just started backing up my dvd collection. I'm using DVD Shrink to encode the dvds to an .iso file on my hard drive and then burning them to disk with DVD Decrypter. So far I've done 2 movies with no skips, glitches, etc. My problem is that when i burn the .iso with DVD Decrypter it takes between an hour and a half to two hrs on 8X. I know this is longer than normal because i have done the same procedure on my friends computer in 10 to 15 min. and she has an older computer. Any advice on solving this issue would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi nthren,

Most likely your DMA settings have slipped into PIO mode. Check out Alkohol's excellent guide to turn back on.

Hey i just tried burning a dvd with my new settings. My dvd drive wont even read or play a dvd or a cd. It gives me an I/O error and tells me it cant read the disk. When i switched back to PIO mode it worked fine again. Any more help?

why don't you just do a disk to disk copy? just use shrink to encode and save to your hd and thain burn with Nero to disk, nice and quick, also no multi tasking when you are doing this, that should help, good luck happy burning have a nice day
