Hi Guys. I am a total newbie to PSP and I have been trying for like 4 hours now reading thru previous threads how to install loaders and such. No matter what I try The data always says corrupt.WTF am I doing wrong? I know the iso's are not corrupt as they have come from a friend and they work fine on his psp.He is out of the country so i cant ask him what im doing wrong. Ok the psp is definately running 1.5 firmware and im pretty sure it does not have the pcb that doesnt run brew.So this is what im doing I open the first PSP folder then i open game folder then i drag and drop the folders into there. ( the folders are ISO PSP MPHgameloader UMDEMULATOR. I do everything as instructions say then when i go to game after downloading it all all the files are corrupt? This is to play GTA liberty stories .
Guys please any help would be very much appreciated i really have read hundreds of threads in search but they are so long and sometime they wonder of the original thread topic. Thanks all

Grab the folders and just copy them to the root of your psp i.e. where MP_ROOT/PSP etc. resides. Then click yes to replace any folders. Run umdemulator from the game icon on your psp and choose GTA.
*NOTE* If you have devhook running, just copy the iso folder only to the root of your memstick and run devhook.

Just click yes to all. It won't wreck your data i assure you. All it does is write the necessary files to the right place...nothing is replaced.

it's all good dude...we all start off as newbies...those other idiots just expect everyone to be *cough* "pro" like they are. You can have as many games as you can fit on your mem stick. Newer games require higher firmware...this is where devhook comes in. It emulates higher firmware without actually updating your psp.

That's a link to download devhook. Once you've had a play and figured out how to use it, you can then chuck umdemulator and fastloader out...this does it all.

Yep, thats all you need to do. But i really recommend you get acquainted with devhook! Cause if you want to play games like GTA: Vice City Stories, Medal of Honor etc. UMDEmulator and FastLoader won't do it.

Ok thanks everso much I will try and get my head around it lol you really have saved my life here it was driving me insane. With devhook will i need to ever upgrade from firmware 1.5 or can it still stay as 1.5 cos i have read you have to go to 2.7 or something

What it does is redirect your psp to your memstick, so all it's doing is reading the firmware files off the card. Your psp is in effect a 2.71. Then, after a 'hard reboot' (holding the power slider up for 3-5 seconds) Once turned back on, it will be in 1.5 again...then all you do is go to devhook again when you want to and so on...

Is there a safe easy way to downgrade from 2.6 to 1.5? my 10 year old daughter is getting jealous of her brother that he has loads of games now because he has a 1.5. I have read loads of links saying there is a downgrader but im a little nervous to trust who i dont know if you know what i mean.

Is it a TA-082 motherboard?? If so, there are alternatives to downgrading...but it is tedious and very confusing for someone who doesn't know what they are doing.

Hi Rhazel. I read that the best way to tell if its a TA-082 is to open the drive door and look and see whats written on the only exposed bit of the pcb. Well the only part of the pcb that I can see has no numbers on it at all so am I correct in saying that it is not a TA-082? can you use any other method to play Brew games without Downgrading? (sorry it took a while to reply you have been working away for a couple of days) really appreciate your help. Its so refreshing to have help from someone as patient as yourself who gives information in totally understandable basic terms rather than confusing me with tech talk. cheers mate.

Sorry guys, for not replying sooner...got a bit distracted lol
@Mavericam: To tell whether it's a TA-082 mother board, you open up the umd drive and look at the top right. it's sort of hidden away, but if you see anything resembling IC1003, you have a TA-082.
Go Here to see for yourself ---> http://www.divineo.de/divineo_support/pr...082%20check.jpg
There are ways to run brew without downgrading...but i'll get into that later if you need it.
@Dipset90: Yes you do need a umd to run an iso in devhook. Just the demo disc you got with the psp will do...anything but movie/music discs usually work.
