Does anyone know where I can possibly update this firmware, the dvd burning stopped working on me properly, burns will complete, but will become coasters, not reading in any dvd rom drive, tried diff. kinds of media, but no luck. Any possible solutions at all to this? I have used Nero, DVD Decrypter, etc, and even tried to put the coasters back in and use IsoBuster with no luck. Any solutions? Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, there is no new firmware for your drive.. (Well I think there is no new one as of yet - still looking into it, but could do with a firmware version)

What firmware version is it? Run something like Nero Info Tool to find out. (You can get that here on AfterDawn.)

How old is it?

I would say your laser is going. Try cleaning it with a cotton bud and some rubbing alcohol for ten seconds with a wet tip and then 10 secs dry tip. This may help slightl, for a while...

Well I have found a site that provides firmware for the drive, however, don't think there any new updates for the drive.

Manfuq: Have a look for yourslef,
http://hijacker.rpc1.org/toshiba/index.php?path=TS-L532A/

I've come across this drive on aD before & was unsecessful in fixing it, becos, as creaky said, it's one of the most difficult drives to find info for...

@ manfuq: Your drive is a TSSTcorp burner. That stands for ToshibaSamsungStorageTechnology.

I allready knew your drive was a laptop, just stuck in my head from a previous thread, LOL.

@creaky: I don't think that firmware is of any use to him. It's merely a slave function firmware, so won't help with the media/burning stragety side of a firmware update we're trying to achieve...

Back to manfuq:

Also, Your burner doesn't support 16x media; so have you tried burning with 8x disks?

You might want to look @ this for you some further reading...

I am starting to think it's time to replace your drive. Is your laptop a Gateway? If so you can se this guide on how to replace the internal drive..
http://www.support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/...8510039_Web.pdf

It should be the same for every drive, regardless of model.

Another option is an external drive/internal drive (desktop drive) in an external enclosure...

Get back to me.
