Nice looking but as usual don't know anything about it. What are you gonna run for an OS?? If I understand correctly you can't run more than 3GB of RAM on a 32 bit OS. Is that right? If so you gonna add 2 512 sticks or just go with the 2gig? Sorry I'm so simple when it comes to this area of the puter. :)

In the large screen arena you've got these options:
32" and above LCD TV: 1366x768 resolution until you hit 40", then 1920x1080
30" Dell monitor: 2560x1600 resolution
The TV has a lower res, but can be bigger, and will support all manner of devices attached to it
The 30" monitor has a huge res, and looks awesome for playing games on, but can only ever be attached to a PC, nothing else.

Monitors in general have a finer pixel pitch(dot pitch in CRTs), compared to that of a TV. Even if you don't get the 1920 x 1080 on the smaller monitors, the image quality should still be on par or better than a LCD TV. I am personally running my HTPC to a 32" Toshiba LCD TV. With the prices of LCD tv's coming down continuously especially for the 720P models, its almost hard to shell out the same amount for a monitor only solution. Don't get me wrong though many center their Home Theater around large LCD monitors because the quality of the picture... and since many of those monitors accept HDMI, DVI, and Component ins, you can can hookup a slew of AV gear to it or better yet, feed it all through a Surround AMP/Receiver for "ease" of use.

Since LCD,HDTV came about,terminologies have changed drastically.Why just yesterday all U had to know .28 DPI was the best,Contrast,Brightness adjusted your TV,just the was U liked it.Now its black levels by certain ratios,resolution 1020 blah blah,pixalate,ms response etc.But things sure are lookin up.except for Cars,& Gasoline.Why we're even electing Smarter Presidents...HAhahaaaaaa

Actually no, there was more to it than size and dpi, the resolution and refresh rates were useful too. 2048x1536 at 60Hz was all well and good, but 85Hz would have been far easier on the eyes.

SATA stands for serial ATA. there is SATA which has a transfer rate of 1.5 and then there is SATA2 which has a transfer rate of 3.0. SATA2 is less expensive now because it is mainstream and they will work with older mobo's that were only SATA, only the transfer rate will only be 1.5.
price wise it's kinda like DDR ram and DDR2 ram. even though the DDR2 ram is faster it is mainstream and therefor doesn't cost as much as DDR ram does now. DDR is almost obsolete now days. just like 1.5 SATA.

S-ATA is barely any more money than U-ATA, and is much better. I've no idea where you got that price tag from. You're a fool if you buy IDE drives new when you have a choice.

I do have a basic concept on SATA 1.5 vs 2.0 etc.
But not quite geeky yet didn't realize their were 2 types,ultra ATA & serial ATA
But ya just don't get enough connections on mother boards.Maybe 2 IDE which only allow for 4 units or the max Sata I've seen is 6 which are singular hook-ups

it cost so much because it is serial ATA 150 which means the transfer rate is only 1.5 g/s. just as I described above, the early 1.5 transfer rate serial ATA drives cost more because they are no longer mainstream and SATA 3.0 or SATA2, whatever you want to call them, will work with all SATA mobos and have replaced the SATA 150's which are now obsolete.
if you need more SATA connectors, SATA cards are dirt cheap. if more storage is needed, most just upgrade to larger hdd's to replace their existing. there is always the option though to add a SATA card and more hdd's.

Some DFI boards have 8 S-ATA ports, and integrated RAID5. Some Asus boards such as the A8N-SLI Premium had 8 as well I think.

Thought that I would link to the 500GB SATA 3.0Gb/s at newegg.com for everyone that is interested. They are all priced below $149.99 and a few are less than $110. :)
Take into the equation that these are backwards compatible with the 1.5Gb/s mobos and work like a champ. :D

Im planning to build a new computer in December and ive made one up through the parts from my cousins friends store.
What im aiming for is to run Colin Mc Rae DIRT on high without lag would this system do it?
And do you think it is GOod
