The CPU's overkill, the graphics card's underpowered. Go for something like an X1950GT or 8800GTS, and an E6750 instead.
Another person who wants the Antec 900 case?
Hardly anybody seems to choose anything else these days!

meh.
CPU is Fine i will leave it you can never have to much :) power
Graphics card yes i know but its only 187au and its DirectX10 which i want and the X1950 has DirectX9 and is 279au as long as the 8600GT can give me 30+fps at 1024x768 im happy because its not lagging anotehr choice would be the 2600HD but i thought 8600 is better?

The 8600GT will seriously drag. If not now, then soon. it's no better than a 7600GT, which is an old mid-range card.

Not sure, neither are that great in all honesty.
If you want a reasonable amount of graphics power on DX10 for low cost, get an 8600GTS. That should run DIRT alright.

I see is the 8600GTS alot better then the 8600GT since the price is about 150au more?
I think i should manage that but that 8800 320mb GTS is 500 i think that is a bit too high.

dazila you can save $90 by going to the E6750 and if you are afraid of NOT having enough power you can OC the E6750 over 3.0GHz or so and have PLENTY of POWER!!
Sam is right on the GPU. You need more there and would be better off looking at some a LITTLE more suited to your needs. :)
With what you saved you can get this card and step up a little bit but not quite to the 8800GTS or 8800GTX GPU. :)
I'm not saying you can solve your "problems" with the card I linked to but it's better than what you were looking at and changed your OUTFLOW very little if you change GPU's and CPU's. ;)

@dazila
For the computer you are building you sure are skimping on the GPU end. Skip the 8600GT as everyone recommends and the GTS variant as well. I know that you'd like to own a DX10 card now, but for the price it's not worth the money. The Radeon x1950GT is plenty powerful for a low cost...and you can even find OEM versions of the x1900GT ver.2 for under $100USD. I'm running a sapphire x1900GT rev.2 OC'ed to 555/1512 using ATIT (I heard it's not suppose to work, but it works on mine.) Upgrade to a DX10 card later when games actually call for DX10 cards, by that time maybe there will be something new from Nvidia or ATI.

Ill just go for the 3ghz Core 2 E6850 and the eVGA Geforce 8600GTS 512mb GDDR3 something like 700mhz/2000mhz memory.
Or if im going for a DX9 card i will go for the X1950 series
But the reason im planing to buy ahead is because this PC has to last atleast 2 Years the graphics card maybe 1 or so years before any chnages are happening no i will not go cheap on the CPU because i will no overclock anything until warranty goes.
I want to know when we will see game not run on DX 9 only DX10 that worries me??

Well, DX10 games are starting to appear now, but you'll need Vista to run them in it, so the real question is, how long do you want to wait before using Vista?
If your PC's got to last you a long time, you will seriously regret it if you don't get a decent graphics card.

dazilla,
I still say the E6850 is overkill for a CPU. Your limited by the GPU not the cpu in this case. The E6750 will last over 5 years and you're already talking about replacing the GPU in a year. lol. Spend the savings on a BETTER GPU and NOT replace it for 2 plus years. The E6750 will do just fine until you want to "test" the OC ability. :D
jm2c.....
If you just gotta have the E6850 save for a month or two more and get the better card, you'll be happier I think.

In gaming at least, I doubt you'll even notice the difference between the two.

True if i was older and had a full time job i wouldn't hessitate chosing the 2900HD XTX.
I guess you might be right it wouldnt hurt ot wait until February and get a proper powerfull GPU.
Would a 320mb 8800GTS 320bit do well?
but i want an answer on my previous question so i see all my options.

Part number E-8600GTS-E3-OC
The X1950 pro would still be better though, just so you know.

Is the difference that big because really i dont see adding 120au on a X1950XTX 512mb because in this store there are no 512mb PCI-E versions.
I will ask about a few games if they will run on this 8600GTS all at 1024x768 on max graphics
*Toca Race Driver 3
*Colin Mc Rae DIRT
*Oblivion (WOuldnt play it but an esitmate on what other these style games would work)
*Doom 3
*Flight Simulator X
*GTR 2
*Need For Speed Pro Street (from what we know).

Well, I have an X1900XT, it's maybe 20% slower than an X1950XT-X but perhaps 60% faster than an 8600GTS.
It can run Doom 3 at 2560x1600 Max settings flawlessly.
Toca Race Driver 3 will run flawlessly on any recent card (I don't own it, but I've seen the benchmarks, an x850xt (half the speed of my card) can run it at 2048x1536 all max detail and get 45fps, and that's with an old single core CPU.
Oblivion my card can handle at 2048x1536 just about, but in the most detailed scenes, it'd have issues. Set the resolution to 1280x1024 though and it runs perfectly.
GTR2 runs fine at max detail on most cards (A pair of X1600 Pros, a mere 30% of the speed of my card can get 55fps at 1600x1200 Max)
Flight simulator X is the only grey area, that can be an incredibly demanding game, so we'll have to see...

I guess this kinda went by lol. BUt I'm building a computer for someone I know, and his budget is 500. Should I go with an AMD build or tell him to suck it up and pay a bit more and go with C2D?

An excellent value build there frank, I think the cost saving comes from the power supply coming with the case. Is the one that comes with the NSK any good? I know some Antec PSUs are good but not all.

Cool I think I will go with the DS3 since it's a tried and tested thing for me. Thanks for all the help, I'll show him this and see what he says.
