The Icecone-x has a better bottom finish then the Zalman...with more copper...a larger diameter fan pushing more CFM...at a higher RPM...providing more air pressure then the Zalman...while still remaining near silent...

LOL guys, talk about getting kicked in the balls. I finally get my mum to agree to buy my sub £700 system and it turns out that half of it is out of stock...........FUCK BALLS!!!!!!!!
Anywhere else recommended to shop?
Oh and also i think scan have removed gigabyte's x38 boards, i can't find them anywhere.

He_man i would recermend aria.co.uk for pc parts there from manchester and they deliver so not bad and it alot chaper than scan.

i bilt a system from there and it only cost 230 pound so thats not bad at all would cost me a lot more from scan.
here the specs
amd athlon 64X2 2.2GHZ
asrock alive NF6G-VSTA
3 gig of ddr2 800mhz £10 a peace
160gig sata 2 hard drive
liteon dvdrw X2
nvida 7200gs graphics card (was a bit pisted of about that)
and a cheape case arianet case not bad very good for cooling.
i did another fourm about a p4 main board but everyone who had posted said that the specs was to low so i dumped the whole system and give it my dad lol. so there still are grate shop out there waiting to be found.

That's only for the UK layout. It's Crtl+Alt and something for americans.
As for the cooler, I'd say Freezer 7 Pro or Thermalright Ultra series.

I see what you mean! Leave it to DFI to come up with something weird! Can you clarify something for me? Just exactly what do you mean by "downward Firing"? Do you mean the airflow is toward the CPU? Normally you would want the air drawn through the cooler away from the CPU.
The Cooler you chose would probably be good for 24/7 operation because it's always on! I wouldn't give it house room otherwise as most of the outside is completely covered in plastic with that shroud and out of the case airflow. The minute you shut it off, a lot of heat will be trapped inside the plastic. Dell has these beautifully crafted huge copper blocks that sit inside a wind tunnel. Turn a Dell like that off for a minute and turn it back on an the fan screams as it's so hot just sitting there with no where for the heat to go as it's all trapped inside the green tunnel. It actually melted on the 3400 at the office when the fan clogged up with enough dust to stop the fan. my boss called me up and told me that the computer was beeping at him and it smelled hot! Ya think! LOL!! Against my advice he still has it on the floor. With all the dust around these parts (San Bernardino, Ca. USA) you just can't do that as walking by stirs up the dust and it rapidly plugs up everything! When my buddy first rented this house 6 years ago, it had been empty for about 6 months. He had to force the door open as there was 6" of dust and dirt on the floor. He literally used a shovel to get most of it up! LOL!!

Supposedly is right...the Tuniq Tower 120 has a fan inside that giant mass of metal. Passive means no fans, moving parts, correct? Plus its HUUGE, the retail pictures are deceiving. And for all that size, I don't even know if it cools all that efficiently, it doesn't seem like it. If I push my Q6600 past 3.25ghz my core temps get well into the 70s under a 100% 4-core load. But to be honest, I dont know jack about HSFs, I've only used two after market ones.

sam both places I checked were out of the AC Freezer Pro 7 but it's good so finding it would be worth while. ;)
I just ordered a Thermalright Ultra 90 for my AMD system. They were on sale for $15.95 somewhere here in the states. It should be here today or tomorrow and I'll get it installed by the weekend I'm sure.
@Lp I'm not disappointed in the CM TX2, I just had $20 that was burning a hole in the pocket and wanted to try the Thermalright Ultra series... ;) {just in case you were wondering.... :P}

Interesting, all the normal heatsinks I use blow the air towards the CPU, not away from it, including the Zalman one.
Greensman: Then don't worry about the freezer 7, the Thermalright will probably be better.

I just checked a number of old heatsinks I have laying around (for what, I don't know! LOL) and all of them draw air up through the cooler! I know that with the old Athlon and Athlon XPs they do a better job sucking the air out of the heatsink and I used to reverse any I found blowing down and it cooled better and stayed much cleaner! Some day I'll try reversing the fan and turning the cooler 180 degrees with a Zalman 9500. It just might cure the 9500's biggest flaw, the little "Vs" that get crammed with crud packed in there like a friggin carpet by the fan! Oh well, whatever works!

You are right, the Tunig Tower is not passive. Sorry for the mis-information! Dumbness on my part! LOL!! The Thermalright Ultra 90 is just a hair taller than the Freezer 7 so it should fit your case if it's 8 inches wide or more, even if you have a side fan!
BTW! What case do you have your Quad in? Maybe I can make some suggestions on improving your case ventilation, as I'm pretty good at doing that!

That graphics card not very good tho so i am getting a new one at
the weekend i am going to get a nvida 8600gt and the asrock mobo i dont
tink it is that bad if you know what i mean , a few of my friends have the same mobos and they have not had a problem atall. but i would like an asus one but i cant afford it. lol i am only 15 what do you exspect from me lol. i ant even got a job. would like some feedback tho on the rig any good or what.

Theone: Interesting. So the frame of the fan was facing outwards?
Navskin: Er no, it probably doesn't. Just because it works now doesn't mean it will work tomorrow. Cheap "bargain" units can and do fail at any time. Even if you're upgrading a small component, I'd recommend replacing it unless it's a decent brand (Antec, Seasonic, Corsair etc)
It is very likely that when you install those new parts the PSU will go up in smoke, often literally, and that can take your other components with it.
It happens often, it's not just a one-off scare story. it's happened to both me and theone, and it happens to almost everybody before they realise what pieces of dung cheap PSUs really are. They're positively unsafe.

If that pic is accurate by the time they come out, I'm thinking Q9450 in my price range. My original need to build was for editing HD video and encoding DVD's (most often with DVD-RB) so that should help.

he-man, i was about to do a nice sub £700 build from aria, when i checked, and they are really really understocked. firstly alot of stuff is out, and they dont have much of a range. scan and OcUK have a huge range of items to choose from, aria, although cheap, have little room to chose from.
thast my shot. the parts are good, btu im sure you can getthem cheaper else where. im just showing this for the parts, (before sam starts:P)

That is the one downside of Aria. They're a smaller retailer (although because of that they have better customer service). OcUK employ just as many staff for 5x as many orders, hence the poor service from them.
Please stop using them for the Corsair HX 520W. You're wasting £20 straight away with their stupid price.

I think you would get more benefit out of the Zalman 7000B-CU as more of it is exposed to the cases airflow, which should help cooling. The product has a much better following as well and the company that makes it has been around a long time and is a very respected name as far as it's computer products go. I would be very Leary of the Icecone because it's already quite clear to me that they mis-represent the product in saying on their website that it fits AM2, when all three reviews complain about being stuck because it doesn't. With only 3 reviews available and all are negative I would be very hesitant about purchasing one
I make part of my living by re-working designs for miniature air turbines that require a great deal more efficiency in their airflow than any cpu cooler and I can see that while this may be a good looking product, it's a poor design imitation (Knock Off) of the 7000B-CU and not near as well thought out. The fact that they chose to enclose a good portion of the cooling surface with a plastic ring, where Zalman has not with an almost identical design tells me that the efficiency of the cooler is just not that good! Just my opinion of course, but I see many flaws in the design and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The 7000B-CU would be a far better choice!

I've read the page and nowhere can I see it says it supports AM2. It says it supports 940, which is not AM2! AM2 may have 940 pins but it's a completely separate system.
As for the 7000B, it's alright, but as the poorest performing of all Zalman's heatsinks, I'm sure there's better out there.
