ZoSo,
I owe Robert nothing. :P For one the battle was between me and the computer. And besides CR still hasn't gotten complete stability. :P He will.... I have NO doubt!!

Morty,
I can take pictures of the computer but you guys have already seen them. :D

Russ,
Yeh I know it only has 4 headers, thus the reason for saying that a screeny of Everest was gonna prove NOTHING. ;)

boozer,
You called it for the P5E, sammy even saw it. :P

ZoSo it's a nice siggy, a little slower would be even nicer. hehehe. :P

Well I ordered that case (ThermalTake VD1000SWA) and HDD (Samsung 750GB) the other day. Which I can't wait for. lol. I can't remember if I mentioned the ACF7 too. At that price I couldn't pass it up and I want to do some checking to see if there's that much of a difference between the CM TX2. This stuff is completely addictive. lol. I should have that moniker just because of my obsession with this crap. lol. :P (please don't take that the wrong way, I honestly could care less about the title stuff)

Deadrum are you saving the "bios" before you leave. lol. I know, stupid question but I'm at a loss too. ;)

Another thing might be look around the forums or google and see if a BIOS update might be in order.

good luck as usual.....

edit: seems that I'm behind a post or two... lol. sammy answered already....

@abuzar
i built it for ripping and burning movies mostly. and to have a nice rig also..

@mort
i dont see in my version of everest ultimate to have all those settings yours is showing.

@Russ
i wnet back into my bios and set those controls like you said and it has my CPU fan back to spinning at half its rated speed.

im running orthos right now has been for 15 mins or so and my temp is only 63c @ 3.7ghz. havent had a failure yet. i got it stable in Orthos,OCCT,memtest has passed 6 complete passes. everything seems fine other than my temps. at idle im around 49c-52c then at load up to 63c+

Was that sarcasm? Because I'm serious, even the full versions of everest ultimate have significant difference in what they do and don't show up, so you may want to have a play with the different versions you can track down.

rick,

ya gadwin printscreen is pretty basic but it's straight forward and I like it. besides, it's free.

the AC 7 Pro comes with thermal compound preapplied (MX-2). it is already as good as AS5, maybe better. leave it on the AC 7. if some other thermal compound was previously used on the cpu clean it off good before installing the AC 7. always clean the cpu with good quality isopropyl alcohol and lint free cloth just prior to installing thermal compound or a hsf that has thermal compound preapplied. even the oil from your fingerprint will have ill affects.

I use FastStone Capture on my AMD system but I think it's NOT free now. hmmmmmm... I got it over a year ago and it's works pretty well. If I'm not mistaken I d/l ScreenHunter 5 for the newer computers and it works nicely plus it's FREE for sure. ;)

I got some of this to try as well. AC MX-2 We'll see if it's better than AS5, it seems that most of the upper/better quality stuff is about the same but I like the NON-conductivity of this product. I've used the Zalman ZM-ST1 and AS5 of course, which both do an excellent job but for the little that I paid for the MX-2 it's worth a try. :D

Ive been reading good stuff about MX-2 (even read thats whats on the AC 7 Pro, but not certain) - some places have ranked it better than AS5 and some have ranked it worse (typical really).

rick did you go to the link that I gave you via PM? One of the utilities that I provide will SAVE your existing eeprom (f/w) so if you do something "screwy" it'll be recoverable in theory. :D

Probably best off going for a 3850 - newegg have a couple in your price range - but then saying that my 2600xt can do 1080i (is quoted as having the hardware to process 1080p, but my TV cant do that), but I run 1280x720 over VGA as my TV doesnt seem to like taking a PC source over HDMI very well.

Deadrum,
i came across a quirk in the bios of one of the first DS3R I had. If you just hit the enter key to save without hitting the y first, even though the y was in the little box, it wouldn't save. Also to make the overclocking options active you can only do the CTRL/F1 from the main screen of the set up. It will still do it's little flicker in any other screen, but it won't save the changes. Try manually hitting the y before you save.

sammorris,

Arctic Silver is the stuff you want. The Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro is a heatsink/fan combination.

Arctic Silver V is the stuff most people go with, myself included. There's also another compound called Ceramique, but I'll be honest, I can't remember what the difference is.

My Freezer 64 I just bought came with the MX-2 pre-applied, while cincyrob's AF7-Pro came with the MX-1. The MX-1 is much darker than the MX-2. The MX-2 is almost white! The eMachine idles about 1-2 degrees above ambient with it. 3-4 above degrees with the AS5.

The Ceramique in my tests does the same as the AS5, but there's no metal in it. And before you say that's impossible because the thermal conductivity is better with Silver, and that's true! But the particle density of the ceramique is higher as the particles are smaller so you get better heat transfer because it puts more individual particles in contact with the cooler! There's not a nickels worth of difference between them, temperature wise. I don't recommend Ceramique for AMDs because of the tiny pins on the CPU. Removing the cooler after using Ceramique often pulls the CPU right out of the locked socket. on an Intel you can usually rotate the cooler farther than on an AMD because there's no frame. All you have to do to get it off an Intel is twist the cooler and pull gently up. Comes right off. Be careful if you get a cooler with MX-2 pre-applied as it looks dry, but is slicker than snake snot! LOL!! The MX-2 is the clear winner! I'm also testing under pretty warm conditions. 29-30C ambient! It's 85F here today and the computer is in the front room with no AC. The eMachine never gets over 50-51C no matter what you do with it. Encoding temps, Orthos, OCCT! Nothing gets it over 50-51C! Cools very well!

Zoso: He used the fan off his old Thermaltake Big Typhoon, just a normal relatively high speed 120mm fan. He actually also removed his rear case fan and attached it to the underside of his T.R.U.E. so it was blowing upwards through the cooler into the 200mm one. A uniqe approach but it seemed to work pretty well.
Theone: Interesting result. I'll remember that for next time I put some compound on my CPU.
Tripplite: Perhaps an HD2600XT?

A 9600GT only costs about 115 and I believe it outperforms the 3850.
