I just bought a single 1 gb on ebay. and need to know how to install it on a dual channel. also my computer just has the minimum stuff. i want the best yet cheap stuff. so if anyone can tell me what i need to make it an awesome computer.

You just need to stick it in one of the slots.
However having just one stick means you're not going to be running dual channel.

To do that you'll need another 1Gb stick of the same spec in another slot.

These will explain the various ways to setup memory sticks.

pic 3 is wrong since u could add 3 sticks that way and still have dual channel how? add 1gb on the 2nd slot and 512 on slot 3 and 4

Not sure what you're saying. but the pics are quite correct.

You can have dual channel with 2 sticks - 1 in Bank 0 of Channel A and 1 in Bank 0 of Channel B

Also 2 sticks - 1 in Bank 1 (of both channel A & B)

Also 3 sticks where Channel A is a 1GB stick and Channel B is 2x 512MB sticks in banks 0 and 1.
This way Channel A is 1GB and Channel B is 1GB.
It isn't common to do this, but it is a valid way to run memory in dual channel mode.
