hi everyone,

I got the A06u few days ago.
I was wondering, I cant burn 4x with that writer. 2x is fine.
I use Verbatim and Princo

I tried on 2 differents computers: same result

here's the setup
PIII 1GHz
Primary Master 80 WD
Primary Slave 80 WD

Secondary Master DVD A06u
Secondary Slave 80 WD

Nero 5.5.10.42
Windows 2000 Pro SP3
DMA enable on both channel

Nero will freeze after a random time
I still can abord the burning process BUT the CPU drop to 1%-0% and the burning progress bar doesnt move (the buffer either)

Anyone have suggestions?

Thanks!!

Swap the drives around: Different IDE settings, master/slave and 1/2

This can help!

I've been swapping my dvd writer in 3 differents computers...still the same result.

I was wondering, is there any other dvd-r burning program wich I could test on?

does the copytodvd have a "test" feature as the Nero?

Not sure bout that, but you can download Record Now Max from the User Guide section of this website. It has a fully functioning 30 day trial:

suggest you try diskjuggler it gives a good account of the cache level etc.and burnproof- also make sure you dont have too many applications running in the background i.e virus checkers etc you could be pushing your h/drive a bit hard especially if you are multi-tasking

VPOWER,

I have a 106D and have the same problem using 4X DVD+R, when I try to copy a Movie using DVDXCopy Xpress, all the other Media seems to work fine 1X, 2X -R, +R & +-RW. 321_Q/A thinks it's a problem with the 106D not handling the 4X Media that well but when I use DVDXCopy and DVD +R 4X the 106D works fine. Go figure.

I have a 106 and am using DVD Decrypter and Nero 5.5.10.42 with no issues : ).

Also i am using Sam's Club Verbatim DVD-R and +R at 4x with no problems. The only thing i see is that Nero burns at 3.6x, and in the result log i have this error.

"22:42:47.640 - PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-106D : Queue again later (Intervall : 11msec)

Can anyone please please help me before all my hair falls out.

I just bought a 106 Pioneer today and I downloaded The Record Now Stomp Vers 4.5 evaluation prog 30 day trial.

I'm using an AMD 750/ with XP I had {Prassi 2.0 English vers) with my 2x speed and it worked fine, but had to uninstall it when I connected my A06 to the PC

I can write one DVD with the above software but when it comes to doing another it just doesn't work it hangs at 98% and I have to completely reinstall the programme.

Do you have any ideas I followed your advice on the 105 options etc but it still wont work a second time,

When I add the files ie video_ts and press the record button I dont get estimated time or the burn speed.

My boyfriend has tried to help and he's as much use as a chocolate teapot can you help?

Rach

Hi Orpheus

Binned Stomp and have a trial version of Nero 6, but I can only write at 2.4x not 4 any ideas

When I try and write at 4x it fails everytime and I've tried various dvd-r media getting confused what to do with all the beer mats, what about replacing clay pidgeons with failed disks

Have you installed the latest FirmWare upgrade? They say that it helps burn at 4x better.

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pio/pe/images/portal/cit_3424/2370290AAR06v06.EXE

I just ordered my A06U - Im hoping to not have the same problem.

Thanks,

Mayor

Hmmm...Record Now (Stomp version) works flawlessly with the pioneer 105 ...

I think it is proper for me to state again,

"Avoid the 106. Get a 105 instead. "

Hi guys....sorry...I didnt update on my case...
I couldnt burn on 4x...but it was a DRIVE ISSUE!!!
it burns 4x easily...and I only use PRINCO...wich ppl consider the cheapest around...

so TOSCA, before you conclude anything....give the drive a chance...

Hi...just out of curiosity, what was the drive issue you had mentioned? Was there a problem with the actual drive?

Thanks...

mjb213: are you talking about my issues?

I just couldnt burn @4x with my A06.
Nero or any other software would just hang randomly while burning...But it burned @ 2x smooth. Tried like a beast to uninstall OS, tried of other CPU/chipset and everything you could imagine...

Hi vpower..

yes...thanks...so is the drive burning 4x now with no trouble? If so, what did you do? I just got my A06 and I used a TDK +R 4x. Once DVDClone finished, the disk was completely blank. But I used a Verbatim -R to burn a photo/video slideshow with no trouble...go figure...I'm starting to pull out my hair..

VPower,

I would like to second mjb213's question. Can you please let us know what you did to be able to burn at 4x?

Was it a bad drive?
Was it a FirmWare upgrade?
Did you change to another brand of 4x media (if so, which brand)?

Thanks,

Mayor
