My PSP has O (circle) as Select and not X - can it be changed?

Having used other peoples PSPs before I got one, I noticed that their select button (as my PS2 was before) was the X (cross) button. I was suprised to find that my PSP was O (Circle) as select.

My PSP is a JAP firmware 1.5
I used Devhook to emulate 2.7 and it reverted back to X as select.

But just recently I have upgraded to 2.71SE-B2 and its kept O as the select.

Does anyone know if this can be changed??

I'm pretty sure that in general Japan uses O as their accept button. The MGS series uses it. As for changing it, I have no idea, sounds like you'd have to manipulate some firmware code.

You would have to change files in your flash. I forgot which programme does that. Look around for a button swapper or something.

Since the circle is the select button for JAP firmware, you need to replace all your 1.5 firmware files with a USA 1.5 version. So get a USA 1.5 dump and replace all files with the USA firmware.

I had this same problem, and changed it out with a USA, and everything was back to the X button.

use pspset to change the x and o buttons around but you will have to do this from fw 1.50 before you upgrade to 2.71 se-A/B/C

Nice one, I'll try pspset later, thanks.
Been looking for something to do this for a while, and so far only found Devhook mods that change them to be like the Japanese config.

Mine was a v1.52 Jap PSP, I upgraded to v2.00 and then down to v1.50.
I'd hoped that would have swapped X and O, but it didnt, only when I run Devhook or games.

Thanks for the help - tried the Pspset on 1.5 then upgraded to SE-B3 - unfortunately the network infrastructure doesn't work.
Eventually went through a file association programme that i found on another forum - basically changed the system reg files to a devhook version (that has X as select).

Will try and find the guide that i used and put a link to it for others to use.

All sorted and glad to be back to the X for select :)

i have a ta082 and the same problem thus downgrading to 1.5 is a big no non. Any help for me?
