okay, so i know HOW to compress an .iso -> .cso file and the program i use to do that is 'psp iso compressor v1.4,' but what i wanna know is WHAT does a compressor exactly do to make the .iso file smaller? does it get rid of something, change it around, what? if somebody can technically explain to me how a compressor works, i'd apprecaite it. thanks in advance.

For the most part i'm pretty sure it just takes out random space laying around. But from what I have heard I think you can take out the videos in the game thus making it a smaller file. You can also take out the sound, though most people don't do that.

Get UMDgen v3.0 it is easy to use(drag and save).When compressing it use WinRAR to extract the files then find the Update folder on your iso delete what ever files on it(what ever files on it means delete whats in it not the folder).Find someother files to be deleted for an specific game supplied in this forums seach fo it.

Thanks for the tip, but I think you might've misunderstood my question. I'd like to know WHAT compressing a file exactly does besides making the file smaller. In another words, I'd like to know about the technical aspect of compressing.

nothing it just makes it smaller and chasnges the type off file (sometimes this can cause lag but not in many games
