Hi. I have been using dvd decrypter/shrink to backup my episodic discs for years. I was just wondering what everyone else uses (free or not) to do dics that have like 55% compression. Is there a clear-cut winner for that much compression?

Try DVD Rebuilder...it handles high compression easily with superior backup quality.

I go with LOCOENG. I use DVDDecrypter, DVDRemake Pro, then DVDRebuilder Pro with CCE....... the best you can do!

agreed. However, there is little need to purchase DVDRemake Pro when you have DVD Rebuilder Pro. RB Pro allows for blanking and customized compression on targeted bits of video. DVDRemake Pro comes in handy when you want to edit the menu structure of the DVD, such as converting motion menus to still or removing a button.

In the end, it is my belief that episodic disks are best done 1:1 with DVD-9 blank DVDs. There is just too much video to compress down to a DVD-5, and if it were to be done with acceptable quality, the result would usually end up lacking many of the features of the original (such as extra audio, extras etc). In addition, the video is usually highly compressed as it is.

@clueless1........ the only reason I do a DVD with DVDRemake Pro is for episode DVDs and it comes out great with DVDRebuilder Pro! the only show I didn't get good results was from Doogie Howser, MD..... it was already poor quality to start with.... so what the heck. To me Episode DVDs (like TV shows) are just not worth the extra money spent on a DL disk than just breaking it down to just do the episodes on a DVD5. I don't want to hear the actor's interviews or any of the extras stuff.... I like the meat and potatoes of a DVD.... just the movie, or just the episodes. All the other stuff, I call that girly stuff, it's fluff!! why? Because only the girls like to watch that stuff! LOL hahahahahahahaah jkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjk

what's contradicting about it? With Doogie Howser the video was already old! they didn't remaster it at all and still came out the same way when I took out all the extras and then used DVDRB on it! soooooo what's contradicting? unless you think that only females watch Doogie Howser! It was a family show that everyone watched! look how old it is!!! gezzzzz
