Ok, i own a self build computer, its all good i know that for a fact becasue i'v had it for 2 years now and nothing bad has happen.
I recently downloaded and installed the "vista rc2" on it and it runs well. Ialso installed a new video card and patched it up so its sounds great. Now just recently i installed nwn2(neverwinter night 2) *game* and morpheus on it. Those are significant to me because this crap started happening no longer then 7 hours after i downaded and installed them. My computer is shutting down randomly..for some reason, and when i tryed to power it up again it wont start up...? But when i move the power plug to another outlet, its starts up again?...

but then out of the blue lol it would shut down again for no apperant reason, i would be listening to music or just browsing the net but the weird thing is that i actually have to continuesly move the power plug to diffrent outlets in order to get the computer to power up? anybdoy know what wt...FUGe this is all about>?

Ok just got an update on what the problem could be, so like 10 minutes after i posted my computer shutdown again only this time when i tryed to go on safe mode a black screen with the moder board logo said

"on-clock failed
"overvoltage failed
F1 run set-up
F2 load default settings*
configure your sysytem
(
or something)

I had a feeling its was about power supply.

Anybody have any idea what went wrong?

"no problem, teach & learn"

Umm...silly question here...well, actually two of them.

Wouldn't [i]power supply problems[i] fit in the "other hardware" forum?

Second, when a message is forwarded to another forum, how are we supposed to know what forum it was forwarded to?

Thanks,

anything hardware for pc's fits in "other pc hardware forum" so psu goes to "other pc hardware forum". when a mod says "moved to correct forum" or "teleported", that thread is now in correct forum

I think I'm understanding...(cyberspace often promotes misunderstanding.)

It was in another forum before it was in this one. I get it.

anyway to try and begin answering the question lol, mate its could be a number of things :

a) the obvious thing to point at first is the power supply, but ive only ever come accross power supplies that break completely not shut your computer down, and as it turns on i would move away from the PSU

b) could be that the CPU is overheating, replace the heatsink to something a little better, and maybe install a few new fans to keep the whole insode cool

c) something connected to your mobo may be shorting out the power......

as to what to do now, if you have another PSU on hand , try that one to make sure its not the PSU but chances are it could be. If none of the above work could be that the mobo is on its way out and may need replacing.
