Hey Guys Im new here. So Hello. I have a Dell notebook 1.7ghz centrino with 2x512 ram. And a 6800GO nvidia videocard. I bought the exact same kind of ram as whats in it besides the name. It had hynix in it and I put some other brand. and it just slowed my comp right down. I put the 1gb ram in slot one and the 512 in slot 2. Both rams are 1g 200pin pc2-4200 at 566mhz i believe. There the same in every way but the name brand. The New 1gb work fine on its own but when together my comp is so slow I can barely stand it. Is there anyway that I can make two different company's work on my dell. I know I messed up with a dell but thats what I get.

Junk Dell.

Since its a dell, your expansion might be a problem, its late and im just going on a hunch, but do you know the max. amount of RAM you can have on the motherboard? sometimes that can cause slowing, and recheck if you have the right mhz and all of that, never hurts to double check.

Windows XP Home SP3
768MB RAM
AMD sempron 3000+ ~2.0GHz
Radeon 9550 250mb APG
2x Monitors
1-80gb Master HD 1-60gb Slave
nForce 2 Sound Card

It is upgradable to 2 gb of mem. And all the numbers are the same. 533mhz on 1gb 533mhz on the 512's. there both pc2-4200's
This sucks. But when alone the mem works fine.1gb works good by itself in the dimm B but not dimm A slot. And when the 512 and 1gb are together with 1gb in Dimm B and 512 in Dimm A then the comp recognizes it but it runs slow.

I tried running in safe mode and everything worked Ay Ok. Comp was fast. Tried SafeMode with networking and It crapped out again. Very slow.

If you're running Vista then that's likely the problem. One of it's chief drawbacks - aside from the fact that it cripples what you can do, snoops on you, etc. - is that it's a major resource hog. That's why manufacturers are bending over backwards to point out that their newest products are "Vista Ready" (even though most are not). You really need some fairly hot hardware to run Vista and your applications properly.

Throw XP on there and see how you do.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

Ya I might have to back to xp except that its the worst platform out there. I hate it. Always crashes. And I just spent 4500 dollars on my notebook and projector. so Im not really ready to save up for another one.

but I guess if I need to I will have to install xp again.
